That activates the various chime modes (marker lights on+doors open, key in ignition+doors open, parking lights on+doors open) and sets the timer start for the seat belt warning.
I suppose it possible that wire could short out to something but normally its just an input to that module and the module does not drive that wire.

'90 S4/GT has the same timer relay, but lacks the integrated alarm controller. So for that year, I had assumed the timer relay also controlled the interior light off delay timing after door is closed. I also assumed it had this same light delay function on '91+.

Goofy thing ... pulling out of my driveway this morning, looked down and saw the lighting suddenly shut off. Still don't understand how/why it has unswitched power to allow the lights to be on with the radio turned off, but no matter.
This poor senile CR-1 will make a good paperweight as soon as I get a real radio in there.
