Default Bilstein dampers - coping with uprated springs ? (and In car rally footage !)

Anyone got any experience of this - I currently (on the rally car) have Bilstein dampers (-0966 Front and -0974 rear) which I suspect are "standard" heavy duty units.
Springs fitted are 210 lb rear and 300 front ... dampers seem to cope (not fantastic - but cope ...........)
Am about to put front to rear and fit 500lb to front (since front is still far too soft) ..... but suspect that whilst rear dampers may cope - fronts have no chance.
Any advice (practical !)

and just to keep the punters happy , a link from latest stage (note nice scenery !!)

Talk to Bilstein. The company will revalve and rebuild these shocks. Their repair tech should be able to advise you. Lots of people have had Bilsteins revalved for stiffer springs. In the US, Bilstein charges US$65 per shock for whatever valving you want and repairs. You may have to talk to and send them to Bilstein outside Ireland for this service, but I think I would start here:

Serfac Limited
Hilary House, Belgard Road, Tallaght
Dublin 24
IrelandTel.: 00353 1 4598700
Fax.: 00353 1 459870

or go to the Bilstein website and navigate from there. Bilstein US has a direct link to their factory repair service. I can't find a similar link at Bilstein Germany or elsewhere around Europe, but your local vendor should be of some help getting to the right people.

Don't know that smooth would be the word I would use to describe the surface ... unbroken perhaps , ... just listen for the crunches !!!

I agree with Bill ... speak to Bilstein and get them to revalve and alter them to your specific needs. Those shocks are their B6 Sport range. If you give them all the info re your car setup and a few links to vids, so that they can see what you're experiencing now, you should have no trouble getting the perfect setup. They'll probably ask a lot of questions, but give them all the info you can re your suspension setup, corner weights, etc, and your driving style and how you want the car to behave.

These companies work with race and rally teams all the time, and often have dedicated competition departments, and they'll be able to work with you to get the right total setup (springs, bars, shockers) and balance.

Nice teamwork on those stages ...
