Here's my tip assuming you don't already have a full harness fitted.
Just before going out onto the track slip the shoulder part of
your seat belt off your shoulder then using the brake pedal
and footrest push yourself real hard back into your seat
and pull in your stomach.
Pull on the shoulder strap at stomach level to
tighten the belt as much as possible around your
waist. Jerk the part over your chest to lock
the inertia reel and now you can let your gut out.
You will be held very tightly into your seat,
you won't slide around on the shiny leather
and you will feel more connected to the car.
Doesn't cost a penny and works really well.
I often do this when "pressing on" on normal roads.

Seat belt lock is easier if you just move the seat back, tighten up the belt, yank it to lock, then move the seat forward to keep the belt snug and lock locked.

I am back and my car is in one piece. I put 181 miles on the track. I had no track knowledge or vocabulary to mention so I was a newbie. I learned the following from this expereince. Find a diagram of the track and memorize it. Hopefully your tracks turns will have numbers to identify them as Spokane Raceway was not well marked for newbies. The terrain was all the same on the back side and caused me confusion at times. The drivers meeting lasted all of 7 minutes and I was the only newbie, which I thought was to my advantage because I had the instructor to myself the whole day. We leave the meeting and I find myself going down the straight into turn 1 at a high speed while slamming the brakes to set for the turn. I am hoping my wheels and tires are going to stay on the car. I am the passenger with the instructor showing me the track in what I felt could of been accomplished in a more positive manner. My after thoughts are wouldn't it be nice to have showed up at the track a hour early and let the newbie's go out and get familiar at a comfortable pace. I know I would have retained a lot more. Slightly intimidating with a hot track.
The instructor had no previous driving in a 928 and was a 911 racer. As the day went on I became frustrated with two instances where other drivers passed without our signal. This was a rule I thought was not to be abused. I brought it to my instructor's attention and he mentioned we needed to go into the pits and make the track supervisor aware. Now I am a marked man !! Around lunch time I started to get the line and memorize the track layout, so now I am starting to have some fun. My daughter and wife were both able to go out on runs with the instructor which was a great reward for them. After lunch the instructor now is starting to like the 928 feel and he is liking it a lot. He is complimenting the rear end on how it steers itself around the turns.
My 88 S4 is as heavy as they come and the brakes are holding well. The hankooks are peeling but sticking and I suggest finding track tires. My right front tire is trashed. Around 3:00 pm I am now being left to speeds of my own and I feel I have the instructors confidence. I feel I received value for my money and could not of wished for a better group of 928 friends to travel with. You guy's were the best and thank you Chris for a great weekend.
Thanks to all for your comments here. 181 miles not to shabby. I like the looks of Thunderhill now.

Hey Thomas,
You were looking great out there!
Our track events are not very structured these days. We've been doing this for so long now the event is more geared toward experienced drivers, with the newbies getting very individualized attention. You'll definitely come to appreciate this as you get out there more often. Our first few events we could only pass on two sections of the track, front and back straights. Now the whole track is open with a point by.
Unfortunately, there were some knuckleheads (non-928 drivers BTW) that didn't follow rules and passed you without a point by. I'm glad you reported them, can't have that kind of nonesense going on, really puts everyone in danger.
If my S4 was better sorted I would have taken you and Bill for a spin -next time.
Hope you are up for another round, it only gets better from here.
