Default Coolant level sender o-ring

Where does it sit on a new sender - on top of the tank neck or inside the neck?

Inside the top of the sender.

Right, and when the sender is screwed into the tank neck, does the o-ring fit (tightly) inside the neck, or sit on top of it?

On top, of course.

How else would it seal between the sender and the tank neck?

Wedged between the sender and neck wall is also possible if the o-ring is small enough. But I guess it makes more sense to be on top.

Found it: in Randy's link https://rennlist.com/forums/9152813-post47.html. That's a big o-ring and can only sit on top.

Thanks.

Why does the placement of the seal concern you so much?

Oh, I pulled the tank and found the seal broken and brittle. I have a box with new o-rings of different sizes and I'm trying to find the one closest to the original. Plus I'm a freak

It is provided with the sender so it wouldn't have its own part number.
