I am helping jjbyron with his 79. We replaced his cluch last month. Car shifted great, but his trans would not go into First. We left the car on stands. Next trip up to the desert, we swapped his old trans, with broken input shaft and no first gear with a rebuilt unit.

Now, the car will not move. Not engaging. With trans side inspection cover off and turning the crank spins the tt and the input shaft. When attempting turnig the rear wheels, the shaft does not move. It sounds and feels like it is going in gear, but is obviously not engaging.

Is the shift rod maladjusted or could the trans be bad?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
