Default New Carpet Set Backing and Color Now Available

The OEM type rubber jute combination backing some folks have been asking for is now available as an option on my carpet sets.
The catch is that its more expensive than the Sliverknit carpet itself.
It will add $200 to the cost of the carpet set.
It will also add about 12 pounds of weight.
So with the rubber/jute backing a 928 carpet set will be $899, $699 with regular polyester backing.

AND

My US made domestic polyester carpet set is now available in chocolate brown. Until now, I had it in only black, beige, and dark blue. It sells for $379.
Some bad news for procrastinators though, I'm told my next shipment of this carpet in all colors will be at a 36% price increase.
I have enough to make about 40 sets which will last about 3 months. So it looks like a big price increase in the fall.

I know many of you will ask so, the polyester carpet is made in the USA, it has a shorter nap than Sliverknit. It has a polyester layer backing. The brand name is Foss Spectrpile.
It is soft but not as soft as Sliverknit. It won't pill or unravel and trims easily. It looks like Sliverknit but its not plush.
If you've ever smelled old Sliverknit, you'll appreciate this. Its actually made for the marine industry and is gas, oil, salt, mold, and mildew resistant.
For a daily driver and/or economy its a great choice.

Sliverknit is an excellent carpet material that is thick, soft and plush. It is also a man made nylon material.
The ends are cut (slivered) during the manufacturing process to give it a plush look and feel.
It looks great and holds up well but when dirty it must be thoroughly cleaned and rinsed to prevent pilling and odors. The only choice when you want to stick with OEM materials.

Rob I know the price increase is out of your control but it seems pretty ballsy for your supplier to raise their prices 36% in one year, especially in this economy!! wow! If my company did that we would loose probably half if not all our customers just as fast!!

Bob, great news about the OE style backing material. You know I'll be on that!

Carpet in general is up. Relative to the cost of oil. We just had rooms priced in the house and I actually found wood to be comparable in price to good carpet.

Can you just do the original looking carpet mat sets with that backing? Like it came from the factory?

My thoughts too. It seems the company has some serious internal issues.Their marketing strategy and focus have changed. They are one of the green companies that received a federal grant. I suspect its no coincidence the issues started at the same time.
They want to deal with big distributors and eliminate small orders like mine.

I can do the OEM type carpet for just the front, back, and rear deck if that's what you mean. But not "mats" as in protective coverings for the carpet.

$290 Front set in Sliverknit with polyester backing
Add $100 for the rubber/jute backing
$380 Front and back in Sliverknit
Add $120 for the rubber/jute backing
$145 Single rear deck piece in Sliverknit
Add $100 for rubber/jute backing

$180 Front set in all polyester
$230 Front and back in all polyester
$89 Rear deck in all polyester
All prices are subject to change.

Included are the heel pads and strap on the front set and Velcro on the rear deck. Embroidery is available also.
