Default Stolen '74 911 mystery - Scottsdale, AZ

I know this is stretching it as far as 928 content but some members in LA or AZ may be of help and I know there are some savy web research types here.

Someone had their 911 stolen and I've been following this thread and the interesting tidbit of someone in LA posting in CL asking for a VIN#.

I can't resist a mystery like this and enjoy helping victims of thieves.

Copied to OT & 911 forum too.

928 content rule on hold, I would hope the 911 community would help one of us find a stolen shark.

This does trash and make a mockery of the 928 content rule, you are a just and wise mod! I just wanted danglerb to see it and maybe even Greg B too because of the LA ad, it can go to the abyss after that.

That CL ad may not involve the car in question but it most certainly is a stolen car being laundered, that just bothers me.

Looks like the 911 guys are on top of it as far as the CL lead goes.

Please tell me that is not the same car. Some people should just fall into the needs to be shot rule.

After just finishing my 86, I can imagine his anguish and anger. As far as I am concerned, it should be justifiable homicide for every one of the sob's involved.

Good luck,

Looking carefully at these two pictures there do seem to be differences

I would say these are not the same chassis,
so maybe there is still hope,
look at the rockers on both chassis they are clearly different,
as the stripe is also missing who takes time to remove a stripe on a stolen chassis?
the targa bar looks matte finish on the stripped car yours look polished
Paint on the A pillar is also dingy on the stripped car, yours glistens

The car could have been undergoing a strip / repaint.

......you should post that on the Pelican thread.

The rocker cover is gone. That's one reason it looks different.

The way that this car was stripped but left a roller( using Porsche rims)could easily be that they intended to buy the chassis back at auction and put the car back together. Since they have all the parts and no need to paint them, pretty simple job. That was a common practice at one time. Once assembled and with proper paperwork. Very easy to ship overseas and sell.So if the wiring harness and oil hoses were not cut the plan was to put it back together !!
Otherwise they would normally cut the tub into three chunks and dump each piece into three different other peoples dumpsters after spraying it all with motor oil so no fingerprint evidence. The scrap metal scavengers who pick up stuff from bodyshops/dumpsters etc., would take the pieces to the shreader. And the chassis disappears.

Yes, that's odd, but it appears the owner believes the car is his based on inspecting it.
