Default Engine Seal Kit Inventory Diagram

Anybody ever post a list and maybe a diagram of all the items that come in an engine seal kit? I couldn't find one.

Mark-

Here's a comparison of the S4/GT kit # 928 100 901 03 vs. the GTS kit 928 100 901 04. Only the latter is available from Porsche, AFAIK.

The big thing to note is that the valve stem seals are not included.

This info is all available on page 198-00R in PET and in the PET pdf's, last page of Main Group #1.

Sorry, this code is a mess. Will post the file as an Excel sheet when (if) the kids go to sleep....

Thanks Rob. No need to put in Excel. Your list is great. I have the S4/GT kit and was having a hard time figuring out what some of the pieces were.

Thanks again.

Well, I pulled up pic of the last gasket set I bought (below) and noticed something- the 26 valve cover bolt grommets are included in the kit but not listed in PET- instead there are 's some o-ring (22 of them) listed that I think are 85-86 only pieces.

Anyhoo, here's the 'corrected' spreadsheet, and a pic of what you get when you order the GTS kit:

Wow Rob. Your kit is in a bunch of individual bags with part numbers on them. My kit was a bunch of unlabeled parts in about three bags. I got kit 928.100.901.04 and it does not include:

1. valve cover bolt grommets
2. blue orings that go on the bolts for the oil pump
3. cam pins
4. oil pan pickup sealing ring (or it looks different than my current one)

This is what I see so far.

Mark-

My set was a factory kit. Was yours in Reinz packaging, or something else?

Mine is a Reinz kit. Maybe that's it. It has the same part number as your kit though. It seems the contents should be the same. Do you know what all the aluminum washers on the bottom are or the gasket in the upper right of your picture?

Gasket in upper right is for early oil pans which still had the block off plate from the 16V oil return hose.....

The aluminum washers along the bottom are a pair of engine block drain plug seals, then a Temp I sensor seal , then maybe the temp II sensor seal, then 6 chain tensioner banjo bolt seals, then I don't know, then the oil dipstick tube seal. The gasket in the upper right is for the oil drainback tube hole- Can't remember exactly but the drainback tube disappeared in '86, and the blockoff plate itself disappeared in '88.

Bump old awesome thread.

Can anyone confirm that the Reinz kit includes all the same parts as the GTS kit?

edit: also Rob, your right-most column in the GTS parts list spreadsheet has the numbers out of sync - a couple of errors in transcription from the s4 list.

Since when did the kit not contain the valve stem seals? IIRC, there are two V-R kits. One was called the 'full' kit or something similar and had stem seals....

You can come over and check out my Victor Reinz '88 Engine gasket set. Definitely does include valve stem seals. IIRC. Unmolested other than replacement of the head gaskets with Porsche supplied ones after "lending" the Reinz ones to Paul Dortkamp who had to rebuild his race car engine in a hurry and no head gaskets were available in Australia.

So it sounds like the Reinz kit includes valve stem seals, and the Porsche one doesn't? (only the GTS kit is available from Porsche now - the 04 supersedes the 03 kit).

Thanks Jon, I'll give you a call once you're back from kangaroo spotting.
