DO NOT - I repeat DO NOT remove the pinion gear. You can put your ring gear on the new LSD carrier and save yourself a lot of work. Boy talking about making work for oneself. I like working on the 928 but I also like to see them run.

If my some freak of nature you do remove the pinion gear - chipped or something then do replace the pinion seal. Unfortunately the seal is non existent and the last time I checked Porsche wanted to charge me an extra $75 in shipping costs on this seal.

The carrier has an odd sized bolt. I think 21 mm. No other bolts on the car are the same size. If you do not replace the pinion seal when you remove the pinion then the seal will leak and bleed differential oil into the transmission fluid resivour polluting the transmission fluid and making a big stinky mess.

The parking cog is inside the back of the transmission. You have to pull off the differential housing and the adapter plate to get to it. If it is munched then there will be metal everywhere. It is not a trival piece as it has to hold the car from rolling when on a steep hill. It takes a bit to hold 3800 lbs.
