And yes, the largest concentration of 928's in NC seems to be the Charlotte metro area (Lake Norman inclusive)!

I'm going to have to check out Import paint and body then, I really want to take it to someone that's painted a 928 before.

The barbeque is also very different here, they use hickory as opposed to mesquite and put vinegar on the meat??
Forgot about Rudy's. Indeed. I would die right not for a poor boy brisquet sandwich right now. As far as Mexican food I can't find any. I usually just go to "On the Border" and enjoy it, but you won't find any comparables to SA. Then again I am in South Charlotte and don't venture up to Norman much. I do my fishing in Wylie land which is much closer and better for fishing imo.

A great night out on the town though is a nice dinner at Mamma Ricotta's in uptown and then a show at the Blumenthal and a drink later at one of the Pub's. Not as beautiful as the Majestic, but still great. Of course that is only if you like theatre.

I live very close to downtown Charlotte, lived here since 1990, and would say this is very much a "car guy" town, from racing shops, karting, and several good road tracks within a few hours of driving distance. I second Jim Burton for experience as a 928 mechanic, who has recently returned to Hendrick Porsche, also Import Paint and Body, as well as Matthews Township Auto body, both have plently of Porsche experience. If your looking for good Mexican food, Central avenue in Charlotte , is a good place to start.

Yep... that's the place. They have done crash repairs, body kits & of course painting 928's.

For decent Mexican food... venture to the SE side of Charlotte -the next county to be exact. Proportionately higher Hispanic population there. El Vallarta in Monroe is said to be good. La Unica in Indian Trail is as well.

BBQ is different in the Carolinas... vinegar based instead of ketchup based. It takes some getting used to. For the best of the Carolinas-type BBQ, you have to travel a few hours to Wilbur's in Goldsboro (IIRC).

Default Off to bad start in NC

One of my $240k trucks burned down on Friday night just south of Statesville on the 77 with a $770k load of new BMW's out of Greer, SC. That's the second truck in as many years, I'm done with Peterbilts I tells ya.

Wow. That sucks. Hope nobody was hurt and you have really good insurance. Looks really bad, but curious as to how close it got to blowin the gas tanks. Looks like it spread pretty good.

Good luck with the new "non peterbilt" trucks cause I don't know jack about trucks.

I've seen something like this before and it was due to a lightning strike.

I'm in Charlotte too near uptown. My 86 makes it to cars and coffee on occasion. Don't miss Sommerfest in Columbia, SC May 26th. The largest area PCA event of the year.

Wow. Fuel lines?

NC is good, short ride to sharks in the mountains.

As for Lake Norman, so long as you stay off that lake, you are safe. Second only to Smith Mountain Lake for pure danger.
OK for sharks, just not watersports.
