Default WTF? Messed-up exhaust

First off, 1984 Euro S. That oxygen sensor is there basically as a plug it appears...

I don't even know what to do with this... ugh The weld jobs they did are all cracked and rusted through, and the cats rattle. It's all ONE HUMUNGOUS PIECE. Any suggestions (besides an entire new exhaust system)? Any nice used exhausts near the western Wisconsin area?

I just made the system in the first attached picture yesterday for TerryGT.

This is the type of system I recommend if you want to go duals, or if you want singles then go with what I did in the following 3 pictures for Walt.
Though the single magnaflow is a touch loud, we will be adding a turbo soon which will help quiet it down.....

Sadly when Euro cars were being federalized quick and cheap was often the result. The real Porsche parts were too expensive. Any of the dual cat 85 > cats will fit your car. You just need to work out from the cats back 85 early 86 will all fit.

Colin;
Get any drone @ 2200 with that dual setup? Mine looks just like that, and I have drone.

Bill,

Terry phoned me and said that he is getting some drone @ 2200.
I will adjust tune first, then look at adding an H pipe into the setup.

It does sound good though!

after my first stage exhaust (shown) it was too loud. so I added a 5" round magnaflow in the back (not shown)

not too loud now, sounds great, BUT it does have some droning. from all the headers/exhaust threads I've read, droning was expected using free flow mufflers like Magnaflow. but I can live with it.

now need to go to a friend's shop to weld up some of the joints

No drone on mine. My theory is the droning comes from the joining of exhaust flows, the vibration that that causes. I have true dual all the way, almost straight pipes except for the small round SS cats and moroso in name only mufflers at the very end. Love the sound.

Bob,
You can add a resonance tube to control drone easily on a single pipe system. Search for Speedtoy's solution.

Colin,
I added an 'H' connection aft of the rear suspension. Didn't help. Can you figure out how to add resonance pipes on a two pipe system?

The way to fix your exhaust is usa 85- early 86 dual side by side exhaust system including the cats. Some minor mods to the heat schields and it bolts right in. Gives you the correct stock sound.

More like a drift. Maybe a neighbor will chime in and offer you his discard.
