Is there a thread about this half tooth deal? On my setup (EuroS top end, US 4.5l bottom end) I have PorKen's 16v adjustable cam timing setup so I should be able to do what ever I want, but I have never messed with it much. How can you measure where you are and where you should be? If the marks on the pullies line up perfectly with the marks on the cam towers does that mean you don't have the half tooth deal, or is the timing still compromised even it the markes are right on?

Edit: I see the thread now. Got it.

Get the block number and look up the size. Before '80 all engines were 4.5l. After that it's a complicated mix of sizes until '87 when everything went S4 and 5.0l.

4.5 CIS nearly identical to the USA 78-79, no magic there at all. May have slightly higher compression and the cars had no emissions equipment no cat converter and made about 10 hp more.

As others have said, the 4.5L rarely gets rebuilt, no point due to costly infrequently ordered parts and end result is the lowest power 928 motor ever offered.

Short block isn't the issue with the 4.5, its that the 4.5 comes with intake and heads suitable for a 220 hp motor, put a 5.0L 85/86 short block under them and maybe still make less than a stock 4.7L non Euro.

HP comes from Euro S (4.7L) heads, cams, and intake.

I do have the 4.7 Euro, so with a 5.0 block it sounds like Ill be ok.
