Door window channels
Do you glue in the new door window channels, please (the ones that wrap around the top of the window)? I haven't removed the old ones yet because I don't want to get 1/2 way through & find out I need special glue. The new ones are floppier than I expected, hence I wonder about needing glue. I figured there would be metal strips imbedded in them & they would press in & have a few screws - but that's not so. Thank you.
No, no glue at all. The seal just tucks in to the channel - look closely at how the old one comes out to get an idea of how the new one goes in.
Also, use dish soap to lubricate the seal as you tuck it in. It is very helpful to use a tool to assist in tucking the seal into the channel as you work your way arounf the door. Start in the front by the mirrors and work it towards the back. The first one takes longer than the second one (assuming you are doing both doors), but once you get the hang of it, it goes pretty smoothly. Also, make sure your tool isn't metal or anything that will scratch the paint. I used a plastic tool that is for interior work that I bought from Griots Garage (a set of 6 tools for popping off door panels and the like - a very valuable set of tools to have in the home shop).
