Unhappy Waiting for tow truck, has my clutch gone?

(1990 GT manual!)
So I'm currently broken down, waiting for the breakdown folk.
Clutch pedal is down, I can pull it up but there is no springback.
Engine idles, but when problems started, lifting the pedal up caused car to stall straight away.
After a couple of tries setting off, the clutch pedal became stuck down and now can't get into gear at all.

Please be the cable not my clutch!

Help!

No cable, these are hydraulic clutches.

Long shot........check the brake / clutch fluid reservoir (drivers side, in the back). If you have a slow leak, topping it off might get the clutch moving.
This is assuming the reservoir is low / empty.

I had a Honda that did this.

Clutch master or slave, or blue hose between the two cylinders, probably. Slave and hose are easy and affordable, master is a PITA to replace. The factory replacement hose is expensive, but I got a speed shop in Gasoline Alley to make me a braided one using my fittings for $20. There are good tips on refilling and bleeding the system once the repairs are done.

Most likely is the flexible rubber hose developed a leak or possibly the clutch slave each is a simple fix. If the release bearing had pulled through the pressure plate it would have been sudden and complete failure.
With a leak from the hose you have pumped out most of the brake fluid in 1/2 of the res. If you refill and move the pedal you should see where it is leaking under the car.

With a little practice, it is possible to drive a car without a clutch. It needs planning ahead when it comes to stopping or starting. I've done it, not on a 928, to get the car home but that mostly on a highway or rural roads, not in the city.

Back home, 928 in car port.
Tow man told life story: 5 kids with 3 women, suicide attempt when last one left him but was glad to have been stopped. Plus much much more. Amazing what some people tell strangers during a 20 minute journey...

Thanks everyone for advice. Going to check the reservoir etc now.

Glad she's back home, not stuck right where a dual carridgeway merges into one lane (warning triangle strategically placed!).

Losing the clutch in a 928 really sucks.. Had it happen at a stop light (on a hill too)...pedal just fell the floor... 2 secs to realize what happened..and another 2 to remember the 928 can crank while in gear..shut off car...popped into first....cranked the starter....rolled about 5 feet..and it fired up.. Slowest drive home LOL.

two weeks later..lost the clutch at a car gathering about an hour from my house....was able to get it home..but not after getting stuck in bumper to bumper traffic...trying to leave space..so I wouldn't have to shut the car down..and having folks just dive in and take the space... cleared after a few miles...was able to "Force" it into 5th..and made it home without having to stop again LOL....

Ended up being my slave...would work occasionally...and then all of a sudden..not.. replaced it and was good to go.

So,
reservoir up to the max with fluid, can see the blue flexihose going down to somewhere.

The clutch pedal is halfway down, and has normal resistance after that. When pedal fully down I can move gearstick into all gears, but when back in neutral the pedal kinda stays all the way down. If I hoik the pedal up, then I get that halfway pressure again.
Curious.

Glad to hear you got her home. Probably just something in the hydraulics like the others have said.

You are right about what some crazy people will say in a car in 20 min. Freaks you out!

I had the spring inside the master break with similar simptoms. You can pull the master apart from inside the car pretty easily and inspect the parts.
