1978 Euro non-sunroof 5-spd For Sale
The brown car is officially on the market. This is a clean example of what the car was meant to be. It was not butchered during federalization with extra markers added. It is a non-sunroof no rub strip car single mirror car. It even has the original Porsche cassette radio in it. I purchased the car with the intent to keep it alongside my '84 Euro S. However, after sorting out the shifting issues due to worn bushings, it is not "different" enough for me to keep both.
Here is a thread on when I found the car and decided to get it.

It is not some beat up car needing a full restoration. It runs, shifts and drives very nice and the cosmetics are also very nice. Records indicate a rebuilt trans and it shows. No stubborn synchros or grinding. Have all tools, spare, records and even a single thicker version of the workshop manual in a red binder. Not sure if it is original to that year or a reprint? The pictures in the above thread show the car with 8" H4 lights. I swapped them to my '84 Euro so this has the 7" Euro H4s with the chrome rings.
I changed the oil and the gear oil when I got it. Also put in a new air filter and dropped the exhaust etc.. to put in new shift coupler bushing. It needs a new oil pan gasket installed. I purchased a silicone gasket from Roger but then decided not to install it when I decided that I wasn't going to keep the car.
All electrics work. A/C blows cold even with the original compressor. Original radio works but I cannot tell if the cassette deck works because I haven't had one of those since the 80's.
The exhaust was replaced at one point with a new OEM Ansa exhaust and the radiator was replaced as well.
Some of the vinyl seat panels were replaced according to records and they have a slightly different shade of Cork. Carpet is in very good condition.
The only real interior flaws are a separation in the driver seat at the seam of the seat panel and its bolster. Can't see it unless you spread it apart. Also has a dash crack from front to back just right of the pod. I pulled the pictured steering wheel cover off and the leather was pretty dry. I tried to condition and then sand and dye it but it isn't great. I didn't give it a lot of time, but it may be too far gone to bring it back to like new.
The paint is not all original. Some areas have had repaint and it appears there was once a fix on the passenger side rear fender. Still a little crease on the forward side of the wheel well. Overall, the exterior is quite nice compared to 90% of the early cars out there.
It seems that most early cars in similar condition(few and far in between) have had asking prices between 5 and 10k. Cars needing some odds and ends but are nice condition drivers as they are. I feel like this car is on the upper side of that because the needs are not big $ items like trying to get a working AC and needing a rebuilt trans. I will start with an asking price of $7800 OBO. I will be around this week and then will be gone from the 7th until the 14th on vacation but will still answer emails. If it doesn't sell, I will throw it on EBAY and see what the market will bring.
I will try to get some more pictures this week. PM me if you are interested.
