Most track cars use these. "Porsche Steel Lug Nuts
19mm Steel Nut 14x1.5 (Qty. 5)

List Price: USD $11.95
Our Price: USD $7.50
You Save: USD $4.45

Readily available for about $30 a set. Open end nuts so you can see the bolt is engaged properly and no risk of breaking an alloy nut when installing or removing.

Just as a data point, I weighed a couple of new Porsche aluminum closed lug nuts, all are between 18.35 and 18.37 grams each. So a set of 20 is 367.4g, or 13 oz, give or take.

For the 928 we would need titanium studs to go along with the titanium nuts to "save" the one lb or so.

As for comparing titanium to aluminum.... that is not even in the same world, very different product, titanium is about the same weight as aluminum with the strength of steel. It also does a great job retaining finish.

Thanks everyone!

Realistically I think the only application where Titanium has a real adavantage on a 928 is for racers who would otherwise likely use steel open ended lug nuts.

The aluminum stock nuts work just fine and are very light - so really there is no real benefit for a street car, and lots of downsides at $500.

This wasn't a very well thought out start on this forum. Its important to know what products make sense for a given vehicle

I like to support new vendors so we have more options - but this is a very small niche on our cars.

I think you should start over here with a new thread on lug nuts specific to 928's - if you need more info - work with someone individually until you know what makes sense.

We do make titanium open ended lug nuts. The group buy price is $390. I understand alumnium was made for the 928. We have also sold sets to 928 owners. Glad I was at least able to make some new friends and intro my Company.

As they say any press is GOOD press ! Just few here see weight as an issue veiw the car as a GT not a sports car. The mini starter option from Roger saves about 5 lbs for $249 , a Braille battery weight is about 11.5 lbs vs stock @ 30 plus for $150. So there is about 25 lbs for $400. A somewhat less expensive way to shed weight. And a mini alternator at 7 lbs for a 60 amp one wire for $110 looks pretty good as well.

But yes after you have done all the other weight savings items and you are not bothered by dimishing returns Titanium nuts are cool ! And since the Lambo light weight runs them they must be !

So, just for the sake of seeing what the opinions might be, if one were to replace every nut on an entire 928 with titanium, what would the weight savings be??

100 LB? 200 LB? Someone must have a good guess.

Maybe some other parts would be a better venture for this new sponsor.

In any case, welcome to the Shark Tank.

We are always looking to expand. We make other products such as titanium wheel fasteners for 3 piece wheels. A set of 160 bolts (40 per wheel), though small do help.

Thanks for the welcome, I can tell we are going to like this group.

Maybe we could start with a valve stem cap? I have no issue tapping into my son's college fund.
