Question Sea Foam Trans Tune in Auto Trans?

I'm having some shifting problems in my '81 auto. The WSM points to the valve body. Before I take it out to try and clean it I was thinking of adding Sea Foam Trans Tune, running it for a bit, and then doing an oil and filter change to see if the combo might free up a possibly sticky valve. Anyone tried this stuff? Pro and cons?

Used correctly, the seafoam stuff is pretty good.

Yes, theres always the story of the guy that used 4 cans in the oil and ran for a week until it blew up..but thats not used correctly either.

Personally, I would start with a new filter/fluid and then go from there. Not to mention, adding that stuff seems like it would be a PITA due to raising the car, draining the right amount, adding the seafoam, topping off, and then later raising the car again etc. And if you later found kitty litter in the trany pan, would you be wondering if it was the sea foam that caused it.

If/when you change the fluid, I would suggest Dexron VI.

Thanks all. She had been sitting for I don't know how many years before I bought her. After I got the engien going I realizes she was shifting erratically. I changed the trans oil and filter and it shifted much better. Now it seems to be getting worse again. I was hoping the flush might clean some stray deposits that miught be gumming things up. I was mainly posting to see if anyone had luck using Sea Foam Trans Tune in their cars. I will do another oil and filter change after using the flush.

I had good results from using Trans-X, stopped the small leak I had and a small improvement in the shifting, my transmission has a lot of miles on it.
