^^^^ ya, all a lie. cam sensor still hates me and im having cold start issues with it. i keep getting and errant cam signal on start up. once is gets "running and warm" it seems to iron its self out and be a good boy.
no matter how much i read on the MS forums and try to under stand this tuning stuff, the more i realize i might have bit off more then i can chew i guess.
now im not giving up at all, but i need to sit back, and think more. And of Fly Colin down and throw him at it.

well after a few cranks she started up, warmed up, and drove fine (minus it needs a dyno tune)
i have an email out to MS on if i can just switch to batch in the computer, or if i will have to rewire. i dont want to do that if i dont have too.
that might help going batch. or it is some IAC issue. im starting to think the cam sensor just sucks cold...

right now im trying to locate someone local with a oscilloscope that i can borrow for a bit, and or im trying to figure out how to make a sound car oscilloscope, so i can test the cam sensor. no dice so far.

You can make your own osciliscope with your PC. I did. I think the opsoftware I use is... http://www.zelscope.com/index.html. I will check to make sure that's what I'm using. You just have to build a voltage divider to plug into your sound card. $10-$15 of parts from radio shack and you'll be in business.

i was looking at that. there is a few diff software you can use too. i was looking at how to build the probe/divider, but the diagrams make my head hurt.. :-P

time for a long over due update:
as of today the car runs like a champ! all the hiccups in the above posts were just my ignorance on the tuning software and initial set up.
Drove the car across the country with not a single issue. Today i even added knock sensors (cuz why not if you can). The tune for the most part is done. i have a slight hiccup at about 5200-5400 rpm that is annoying but i believe it is timing related under WOT. i so love the data log function of the MS system. I used one of the spare switches on my Hans/Paul one touch switch panel and the old OS X light on the dash to start and show that the computer is data logging. makes finding what is causing an issue SOOO Much easier.
in the end it was not as hard as i was thinking it would be. sitting down, relaxing and not thinking its the end of the world if it does not run perfect in the first 10 min is key..... and having fellow Rennlisters for support on the software/tune side... cough cough (Colin) cough......

Hey Duc, great work. Can you please explain how you positioned cam sensor on 928 housing in relation to crank sensor. I'm just curious if the toothed cam pulley could simply be drilled and a bolt-on blade style pickup be directly installed on the pulley itself so it is a simple 2 hole drilling mod.

sensor is mounted to the back of the pass cam housing. and this balanced tooth piece is bolted in front of thec am gear. the tooth fits in one of the holes and is the right distance from cam sensor.
here is a pic of the tooth device.

Hiccup was solved (99 percent sure).
after datalogging a BUNCH of WOT runs, and not finding anything on the IGN or Fuel table that could be an issue, and no sensor issues, colin and i figured out the Dwell on the coils was to high. dropped it down and BAM, no hiccup, even runs a little better.

Been following your thread for a couple of years now. Congratulations - looks like you did a great job. I've seen the cam sensor / balanced tooth you and Alan installed and it looks really good - better than triggering off the dizzy. Where did you get it? Is it custom? Also wondering if you'd be willing to share your msq?
(I installed MS on a Jaguar V12, fuel only, worked great. Never did get around to doing spark but am thinking about using MS in the 928.)

time for a little update.
the car is running great. still playing around with some of the minor settings in Tuner Studio and adjusting here and there. Colin will be coming down to help polish off the rest of the tune this fall. hard to do it by ones self on LA streets.
figured i would post up this little tidbit. one thing that i really wanted to add was a VSS (vehicle speed sensor) to the DataLog function. the stock sensor (early cars) is a Reed switch. the mega squirt box can not read that signal pulse and needs to have it converted to a 0-5v signal. after posting up on the MS boards, a kind gentleman in the UK posted up this diagram for a signal converter.
after collecting some parts BINGO!! it now works. so when i am going down the road and say i have an issue at a specific speed, the data log now knows what the speed and what gear i am in..
