Dealer smokes crack

Sorry--the maid is off on the weekends and my fingers get so tired from using the keyboard myself. I’ll try and schedule a conference call with the other GTS owners and provide a collective response, but be advised, many are in the south of France this week to watch the monarch butterflies.
Seriously, 928 owners are our own worst enemies. We bitch when prices are low and high. Personally, I hope this guy gets every penny.

Sometimes we are our own worst enemies. Other times we take ourselves way too seriously.

as for the price...
we have a dealer here that has a salvage title 88 that i posted about a while back.
We are a fickle crowd.. we want to buy our 928's cheap to help us keep OUR costs down, but we want top dollar when we sell the cars. That is human nature.
Personally now that i have bought it to the game, i would love to see prices start to climb.
I bought a well sorted 87 from blitz928 for $7K. The same year 911 in similar condition was in the high teens/low $20K range.
I would LOVE to see the 928 prices climb to the 911 range. this would do away with the notion of us having the "cheap" porsche.
I could have bought a 911 when i bought the 928, but i was drawn to the 928 much more than the 911. I love the 911 as well, and would love to have one in addition to the 928. Heck i also would love to have a clean, well sorted 944, or 951.. i think they are awesome cars as well...

Regarding 928's, I'm here to help owners, and that means buyers not sellers, and certainly not used car lots. Happy owners are what make the community work.
Two of the most common mistakes I think people make with a 928, seaching too long for a great price instead of a great car, and pricing too high instead of selling and moving on.

Right they could only go so low before people would have to PAY someone to taken them away. And the bump in prices of the 1980s 911s has helped pull up 944 and possibly 928 "values" somewhat.

What drags down the market are bad cars selling for the price of good cars and using up an otherwise good buyer who could be stepped up to a decent car if the bad ones were easily detected.
As it is now a buyer gets tempted by a $3k 928 they think needs a tune up and buffing, when it needs $12k. Until they know and understand that $12k is between them and a true 928, buying the nice $15k car doesn't seem like the bargain it is.

There may come a time when the best place to buy an underpriced 928 is here on rennlist because we talk ourselves into undervaluing our cars.
