Default Provent install 94 GTS a peak preview

A peak review of what’s happing to “Roxy”

My post of 2/09/2012

“High Idle in 94 GTS – Is it the MAF”

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...t-the-maf.html

Let me to a doing a complete refurbish of my intake and TB and at the same time install a Provent oil separator system.

Today I completed the first phase of my planned Provent install and it also was the first time since the intake and TB refurbish that the car was started again.

I’m extremely pleased with the result so far the car started right up after the second crank and without missing a beat resumed her nice 675 RPM idle.

I took it out for a 15 mile test drive and no doubt without any of the small vacuum leaks that must have developed before I started this job she now purrs like a kitten and hauls *** like a beast.

My Provent set up is set up as a closed system with return air going to the MAF “Y” I decided to experiment with a hard pipe that will get powder coated together with my back up intake and cam cover that are now in the very capable hands of “Ben” in Austin.

The intake that I refurbish is the grey painted one in the picture.

When I get the PC’d cam cover back from Ben I add an additional breather on the DS-aft and add additional intake (hard pipe) from the DS to the Provent.

The set that Ben is doing right now will have red wrinkle cam covers and a desert charcoal intake and I’m thinking about doing the hard Provent pipes in black.

Herman - what is the configuration?, what vents in to the Provent and what is on the output side.

Mine is installed - but still not fully configured as I want yet.

Great idea on the hard line instead of rubber hoses draped over the engine. I also agree that black PC is the way to go. Yellow chromate would be too much "bling" and any other color would just draw attention to it. Interested in seeing what the Provent does for your oil consumption; althought I don't remember ever seeing smoke from your car--at any speed.

Just to play devil's advocate for a sec- If the Provent is solidly mounted to the radiator, and Herman's motor mounts have any spring left in them, where's the 'give' in the piping when he gets on it? Perhaps my eyes are missing a short flexible section somewhere?

EDIT: Nevermind, now I see the hose at the Provent inlet. Carry on...

Herman - looks good, I agree with the black for the pipes, it will look even better with the PC'd covers and intake as you described.

Cheers,

Gary-

Isn't 'Provent' a system sold by one of the 928 suppliers?

The one displayed here looks home-made - possibly based on the original Provent?
