Question Two Defrost switches? (Pics)

Well, I bought a 1984 Euro a couple weeks ago (!) and have started snooping around the car. It drives fine, however there are LOTS of electrical problems, but we'll get to those later.
But for now, I just have a random question as to why there appears to be two defrost switches in the car? There's the one on the dash in the upper right part of the gauge cluster, but then on the carpet just in front of the handbrake is a factory-looking rocker switch with the same defrost decal on it. Is this possibly for the mirrors?

There should be a round **** in front of the handbrake for the headlight adjustment (Euro only, removed for US cars). Possibly a volume control **** as well in the same general area. But as far as I know the only place for the defroster switch is in the instrument pod.

Pictures would help, but nothing like that on my 84 Euro. Mirror heat I am pretty sure is tied into some other circuit, no controls for it directly.

its possible someone has swapped the **** center cover for a defrost cover,
the centers pop out,
the **** you speak of sounds like the one used to open the hatch,
a picture would help here

Is there an aftermarket alarm installed?
The rocker isn't stock, someone might have wanted a lighted momentary rocker and had it laying around.

actually you need to remove the E brake cover and trace the wires to see where they go,
then post a picture.
The switch is not standard and might be a kill switch for instance.

The other 3 round switches are for speaker fader, headlight adjustment and hatch release

If you have an automatic it could be a kickdown switch. If the wires go back to the switch behind the pedal that would allow you to enable the kickdown switch manually.

That said, if it's a momentary switch probably not it.

My seat heater switches are, well, on the seats. Mine is an '87 though.

Only press it when someone from SMERSH is in the passenger seat.

It is not a 928 switch, there is no switch in that position (stock) on any 928.

Somebody has been creative ...
