may seem goofy but does your shark prefer a brand of gasoline?
i had recently switched to Conoco Philips 76 several weeks ago and the other day i noticed that my 928 felt "sluggish". after checking plugs, doing compression check, i decided to fill up with my more expensive normal brand, Chevron. there was a definite difference in performance and i swear that i am getting better mileage. anyone notice similar experiences or have a brand they stick with?

I use Chevron, and have for 20+ years, on all the cars I have owned.
Cars run better and even the mileage is improved..seems to be the Techron additive they introduced years and years ago.

Chevron works the best for me as well, with similar results from Shell gasoline. Big difference in mileage and sluggishness compared to the "generic"gas stations.
Cheers!

What's in the gas varies by region. Also, the gas stations are all selling gas made from the same base stock at the depots and refineries with different additive packages added at the end.

Up here only Shell V-power, one of the only gases in these parts without any ethanol. Most of the other brands are chalk full of Ethanol and additives.

Think it’s the ethanol. More than once on the news they’ve compared gas stations and the percentage of ethanol. Almost all were WAY over 10%; some were significantly higher. I’ve never noticed it in my 928, but in my Jeep TJ with a 12 gallon tank, it was easy to see how much worse the millage was when I filled up at Valero stations. I got the best with Chevron.

here in the midwest the tuners say that the only tier one supplier is chevron and quick trip and has consistent high quality 91 octane gas. shell around here is hit or miss

This is always interesting...
MOST stations fuel load, comes from the same local refinery.
Addatives, such as techron..are added at the terminal.
But short of addatives...not sure how the same gas performs differently from different retail sources..that share the same retail source.
