click, click on the starter could be as simple as the strarter wires being bare and grounding them out. I just had to fix my starter wires. they were grounding out on the oil pan, and this only happened once in awile. you may have disturbed the wires in the removal or install process. this may not be your problem but is an easy one to check first.

We discussed the flywheel issue here after I had it turned. It was a 50/50 hole shot. Another issue
is that the clutch is a single disk that the PO had installed. The flywheel is from an S4. I don't drive hard, which led to the conclusion that the 5mm off spec would be Ok. Consideration to fit was never an issue.
I will pull the cover plate off today and inspect. I have that sinking feeling that the thinner fly wheel could be the culprit, however when installing the PP and the coupler etc, every turned Ok.

At the risk of repeating what someone may have already stated as I didn't read the whole thread: There are two smaller post areas where the smaller signal wire could be connected: I too had made this mistake before while under the car as the other post is harder to see. I switched the wires, worked fine.

Good call Mark. I made the same damn mistake and forgot about it till you mentioned it. The small wire goes into the bottom hole.
Lets hope that is the issue. You will get no response at all if the wire is in the other one.
And as a good rule of thumb, 'Always listen to Stan (MrMerlin) and do what he says first. He does this for a living and he is damn good at it.
Cheers,
Frank

Actually it is off to the bolt store for a shorter bolt for the clutch slave cylinder ...
Long bolt binding into the back of the flywheel how I don't know.

I had the exact same thing happen when I replaced the clutch on the Schwartz car. I misplaced the original pressure plate bolts and used what I thought were the correct ones. The engine turned over about one-eighth of a turn and there it stopped. It took me a good part of a day to figure out what happened. I replaced the bolts and it was all good.

That was all there was to it. Picked up a bolt that was too long and wa la, the bolt and the starter ring
fell in love. Shorter bolt engine started right up .
Drove into our little village to have some mexican food and a couple dozen margarita's, celebrating
great success and toasting RL along Mr Merlin and everyone else including Andre, only to find
a huge puddle of clutch fluid on the ground and clutch pedal that is on the floor. Had to call the "hook" to get home. Now to figure this one out.
I never disconnected the slave, just set it aside. Maybe the the plunger went through the back of the
slave? Up we go......(:

heya,
it sure sounds like you have something bound up.
DO NOT TRY TO START IT DOWN THE HILL!
i would pull the starter first, then see if you can turn it over with a socket on the crank pulley. if yes, fine starter issue/(install error, or bad starter), if no, pull the clutch assy and try to turn again. if no, pull the flywheel and go again. at this point you should absolutely be able to turn the engine.
at each step thoroughly inspect removed components for galling, signs of interference.

^^^^ a little reading will tell you that one of the slave anchor bolts was too long and thus was binding up the flywheel he swapped out the bolt and the engine runs.
Van, if your going to go to the trouble of swapping out the slave make sure to install a new flex line as well ,if the line in the car is an original line
