Default Passed APK with flying colors

Yesterday my 86.5 was due for the annual check (called APK) in Netherlands.

Car passed with flying colors, also the emissions test was perfect, CO percentage was just 0.1% where 1.5% was allowed.

Before fitting the porken chips and adjusting the MAF it would barely pass the CO test.

I am really happy with the results, car drives great and is good to go for another year :-)

Cheers
Michel

How did you 'adjust the MAF'?

The 85-86 has a wired connection to the Mass air flow sensor (all of which have the adjustment screw) but on 87 and newer 928s it does nothing.

Correct, my car has a potentiometer on the MAF which is used to adjust mixture on idle if I remember correct. The s300s chips also use it at WOT, and after installing the chips I discovered it was not set correctly, the car was slower with WOT compared to part throttle.
I adjusted it with Ken's instructions and it transformed the car in a very good way, which was confirmed by the emissions test.

Cheers

Just passed CA smog test today. It is called FMMP for (f me more please) . Our CO% max is 0.93 at 15mph and 0.73 at 25mph. Mine was 0.47 at 15mph and 0.04 at 25mph.

It is a good thing, testing, because I remember wrapping a cloth around my mouth like a bandito when traveling up to the City of Angels back in the 80's.

How does adjusting my AFM affect a SMOG test?

Not that I would do that of course. Just curious.
