Your car doesn't require e-testing. I would just put on the X-pipe and ditch the cats, that's what I did. If you really want cats, you can always get them from Roger when you get the X-pipe. He has ones that work well with the X pipe and are probably around the same price as the Ebay ones.

I have to do it, or my wife and kids are going to complain of the smell. There is local shop where I can get 100cel metal cats for $129.
But they are 200 cell: http://vibrantperformance.com/catalo...roducts_id=856
I'm going to call roger to order the x-pipe and see what kind of cats he as, but i don't want any ceramic cats.
Birthday money burning a hole in my pocket!

I mat try cat free first and see, I can always put cats on later if need be.
Maybe then I can afford motor mounts and an oil pan gasket, the gasket is badly needed.

I so want to get an x-pipe. Just not quite enough in the Porsche play fund yet. Livio and I were talking about a group purchase to see if we could get a break on price and/or shipping cost.

Yep, all you have to do is cut down the X pipe and add the cats. The 85's sound good with no cats and the pumpkin muffler, loud enough but no drone.
MM and OPG is a big job, but worth it. I have the engine hoist that sits on the fenders already made and set up for the 85 if you need to borrow it.

I plan on having mine shipped to US Address in Niagara Falls and picking it up, maybe we could get three and I will pick them up? Just split the border taxes/shipping.

Hi Adam,
i just PM'ed Livio to see if he was ready to go on this purchase. He has a shop in Hamilton and may have his MaxJax installed by now. Were you planning on doing the install yourself?

Those cats on Ebay are 12 3/4" long which is too long for the x-pipe. Don't waste your money on these. If you want 100 cell then get them from Roger along with the x-pipe.

Cats dont really cause much power loss (especially the newer high flow cats). The sound is not that muffled either. Is the gain of 2-3 HP really worth smelling like hydrocarbons. I've never owned a 928 without CATs, but other V8s and my Rx7 without cats will make your eyes water just standing near the car.
IMHO (since you asked) its seriously irresponsible to drive around without Cat Converters, especially if you consider why they were actually required on cars in the first place. In America, there are huge fines if you are caught operating a cat-less car on public roads, including impounding of the vehicle and complex hurdles to it back. (if the car was originally equipped with one). I'm not sure if you realize the gains of running with no cats are very minimal compared to replacing the factory unit, especially if you have a car that has been running rich or misfiring (not igniting). Even in boosted applications the gains only really show up at higher RPM's.
Here are some facts to help my make an informed decision .
