Three Wheelin'
I like Top Gear for entertainment value, but i find especially as of late that their "reviews" are never actually useful, since at least 95% of it's viewers will never be able to even consider buying the cars they review. They almost never review anything that costs less than $50 000 (ok yes they did the "hot hatch" show). I still like it for the entertainment value though. I wish Clarkson did a review on the 928 when it was new (not the one he did during the 2000's). I did watch a really old Top Gear (1992) on YouTube in which Clarkson compares the then new 968 to the XJ-S.

Actually, no. He did have a 928 but didn't keep it long, I know the guy he bought it from. He drives a 911 of some sort and owns mostly American stuff, don't really care what but I do know about the 928.

Here's a link with an interview w/ Richard Hammond. At about 5 minutes in, he talks about how he initially refused to run over the 928 and the blue Mustang, but both were pulled from a junkyard, so he felt that it would be all right to run over them.

He only test drove one for a feature on the Top Gear TV show, and that particular car had an unfortunate firey death a few years later.

Being rare doesn't prevent accidents. I know of the owner through the UK circles of ownership and therefore the rough history of the car. So unfortunately yes, it did happen, this particular 95 GTS manual is no longer with us.
