Ahh, you know the stuff already
Intake yeah, I have thought it quite a some time as well, it definitely needs some time on flow bench.. The flow efficiency may be improved by few little modifications...
The worst flowing intake tubes would benefit of making the trumpet entry more elliptical as they are now. The top of the oval tube from throttlebody may benefit of smoothening the turning radius slightly more.
Also, the bottom of the oval tube is closer to throttle plate on driver side.. There is sharp edge just before the air enters to oval tube, perhaps it can be smoothened as well... and so on.. Little things but together they should help bit.

I'm planning of taking the intake to flow bench just to balance the flow numbers across the tubes, hopefully next winter..

'Ray' in Raleigh.... would that be the nearly famous Ray Munsch? It's difficult to know who is who from just the user name!

I have added both of you to our NC 928 owners' list for future GTG's! PM me for contact info!

NOT a hijack, just a FYI! Link to that thread:

Your car is coming along nicely, David. Although it had more crud accumulated on the front of the engine than I've ever seen! It must have been leaking for a LONG time! I don't understand why some shops will do a timing belt and NOT do the seal if they're leaking!

I've been busted...I am Ray Munsch in Raleigh, NC. I came up with "PorscheVERT" because a lot of the "air cooled" guys think the front-engine water pumpers are a perversion of the original Porsche concept. When in reality, the 928 was the very first car designed and built in-house by P and they started with a clean sheet of paper! So I'm a Porsche Pervert, I guess. That's OK though, I love get'n on the track with 911's and spank'n them! Especially the 911's of the same era! Most are completely miffed and don't know what happened! I even had a Saleen Mustang driver ask me in the pits why he couldn't catch me and all I could say is..."928!!!" I'm not a great driver, the 928 is just a great car!

Yes, I will be working with Ray on this project, I'll be doing some of the same stuff to my car as well.

This isn't a car I want to do a lot of work on, so anything really P-car specific will be going to Ray (like the timing belt he's already done for me). And if the motor does something bad and expensive, LS2 swap! (Purists hold your nose.)

Take it easy Little Jeff!!

What can the LS2 do, the 928 cant?

You can stuff the same amount of $20 bills into each of em.

If its worth doing, its worth doing with style.

LS2 swap...been done. Same as putting a carb on top of the intake..been done too.

Pretty simple really, If you start doing some seals and fixing some oil leaks then when the car goes home any and all oil leaks from anywhere on the engine will come back to haunt the shop ! Which means you OWN the engine when it leaks.

So unless the owner is willing to sign up and pay for a full reseal including oil pan gasket starting to fix oil leaks is a hard game to win. You probably already know this but some people who buy a 928 do it BECAUSE they cannot afford a 911 yet want a Porsche and as a bonus it has a V-8.

A lot of people who become do it your selfers on their 928 do it out of necessity there are posts all the time about people here who never worked on their other cars but jump in to do a T-belt or valve job (sometimes after they did the T-belt) .

You are right though when in there it is best to do a reseal , and motor mounts, and fix the leaking steering rack and get new P S Hoses , front engine harness is probably toast.
