Default NC 928 Owners - Monthly Shark Gathering?

I figure there are enough of us to where we should have our own little gathering/meet/cruise night once a month or so.

SO, let's all come up with some good ideas that we can agree on and then we can start having a beer night, or cruise/dinner sort of thing. Preferably someplace centralized so that if people want to come from surrounding areas, they don't have to deal with traffic in and around RDU.

Moving to May for ease of accommodating everyone. I think we can figure something out by the second Saturday. Asheboro and BBQ seems to be ok so far, but who knows what it could change to. Make sure to let us know if you are NC and not on the list! (See post #12)

Coming from Charlotte, that would be a stretch.

There's about 6-7 owners in the Charlotte metro area alone. Probably same amount in RDU/eastern NC as well. Then there are some toward the mountains (928 Specialists turf).

The Triad area (Winston-Salem/Greensboro/Highpoint) or Albemarle would probably be the most central point from all parts of the state. NC is larger than most realize...

Fantastic idea!

I hang out with the Apex Porsche crowd on Saturday mornings over at the Wake Zone... One other 928 owner there. But I too suspect there are many 928 owners nearby...

If nothing else, we should descend on the VIR together...

That would certainly be pretty convenient for the Charlotte crowd. I was thinking something like in the Sanford area.

Also, it might need to be something more localized to a region. I'm sure most wouldn't be willing to drive multiple hours for something like a beer night once a month.

They aren't kidding when they say "Murphy to Manteo"...

I agree.. Triad area sounds right... But we'd probably want to meet north of there?

K, well in going with the Triad theme, what about Asheboro? I've heard there is some good BBQ there?

How about at one of the many tracks in NC?
What they may lack in amenities, they make up for in automobile atmosphere.

Rockingham comes to mind :

But there are many others:

And I love the VIR idea, but that is a longer haul for any Charlotte folks..

Rockingham could work, but I was thinking more of a relaxed get together. Food, drinks and car talk primarily.

On another note, what about time during the month? Would the 2nd Saturday work for most? After all, that's THIS coming weekend. Guys in the triangle could meet at Briar Creek or Apex, and travel as a group for lunch from there?

If we can find a great BBQ place with good parking and easy access, I'm all for that too.

I missed a PCA run to Hop's BBQ in Asheboro a couple weeks back. Seems like it might work?

I know there are more guys around the RDU area. I guess they just don't frequent the list much? Barry, would you think Asheboro would work for the Triad guys?

Asheboro isn't far from either the Triad or the Triangle area... or Charlotte really. That could work out for many.

Of course, there are also some just over the NC border in VA & SC... may have to have some rotating overnight road trips!

K, that's kinda what I was thinking. I'm spreading the word on a few other "lists", so we'll see if that works for the majority. I'm thinking Hop's BBQ in Asheboro, simply because I know others have been there and they say the food is good. Small parking area, but on Saturday's there is another parking lot adjacent from the restaurant that should accommodate everyone.
