Default 2ohm rear replacement speakers

During my on going search for new speakers I thought some of you may be interested to know that the Infinity Reference series speakers are all 2ohm.

I picked up these for the rear.

I don't plan on using the factory amp, but it's a good option if you would like to retain the factory amp.

I purchased the regular depth version, but there is also a shallow depth version available.

I also got 2 sets of the 4" (one for the back), but I'm going to have to cut a little bit of the inner door panel. The centre depth is fine, it's just that the larger diameter magnet makes it a no fitty! But they will fit in the factory grills with some slight modifications.

I'm also thinking of adding a set of 5 1/4" in the lower front portion of the door.

Does a 2-1/16" mounting depth really fit a 928?

For the rear or door 4" speakers with factory grills, look for dual cone 4". Factory mounting depth is 1.5", but these will fit with slightly more mounting depth.

These have Polypropylene cones which is far superior to the factory paper cones. With 10 speaker system, you can't use high power speakers, so more handling power is unnecessary.

You will need to use the grill mounting rings from the factory speakers in order to adapt the new speakers to the factory grills.

Well, this is interesting. If you have the extra speaker option (which all '89 and later models seem to have) and you want to use the factory amp, I have heard you need a 2 ohm speaker.

If you look at the manual of these Infinities, it looks like they are indeed 2 Ohm.

How much clearance do we have there? Adamant, have you tried installing these yet? Can you post some pics?!!

I ended up going with Alpine S series, the infiniti's did not fit up front, never tried the rears.

Alpine s410 4" fit, and the 610 6.5" fit in the back installing on top of the factory grill's.

With the 4's the grill sits out the thickness of the speaker mounting tabs. But once the grill is on its not very noticeable.
