Default Walbro Fuel Pump

Well I did a search and didn't see anyone referencing one. I found this about a month ago and was considering getting it but may not due to a used pump coming up for a better price. But I wanted to share it with everyone. I posed it in my project thread and figured it would be good to share. Anyone out there using this pump that could give some feedback on it? It could be a good substitute for the more expensive Porsche pump.

Fuel pumps are one of those things you don't want to cheap out on. Buy once/cry once.

The only reason to ever stray away form original is for those rare items that simply do not work.

Considering the original pumps easily last 20+ years, I see no reason to go cheap on the replacement.

That is what I have heard a few times. Just kinda wanted to open it up for discussion. Of course the Porsche part will be the best replacement. But there could be times where this pump could come in handy.

My fuel pump is original and I have one of these as a spare for any road trip fuel pump related breakdowns. I think it is smart road fix insurance.

Brad - I have one from my 84. I know you're doing this on a budget, so you can have it for free if you need it. The rub is, it will take up to 10 days to get there from here. I haven't used it for 5 years, so it is, what it is. PM me your address if you want it. You can buy me a beer or something someday. / Bruce

I have a bunch of work to keep me busy for 10 days before I would be willing to turn it over so that will help keep me from rushing the project.

Hey Roger I sent you an email earlier asking about intake gasket and vacuum house prices. If you see this before you get to the email could you also price the belts for an 82. Don't need the timing just all the others.

Okay, don't stone me but I admit I bought a cheap ebay pump 2 years ago for $60 when I was returning my $1000 928 from the grave and did not want to spend a fortune on it till I knew it was worth it.

Two months later it started making a loud racket and the vendor honored the 1 year warranty and sent me a new one which has run fine since. Worked for me at the time.
