Sean are you aloud to take a few pictures? I would enjoy seeing a few that show your shop in them so they don't have to be that detailed.

I am 50 and haven't pulled wrench in 3 years and I really miss the shop.
Now I just cortege, set up and coordinate training for techs of all kinds of heavy equipment. I miss the auto and performance end.

Sent monies for a set of GT cams. Sean was waiting to get started until the deal was done on the cams. A single GTS exhaust cam is $1200 !?!

Looking at all the Porsche specs the valve springs are the same for S4, GT, and GTS. Also my GTS only as 62,000 miles on it, so I am confident valve springs won't be an issue.

And yes, wide band O2 and Sharktuner2 are already installed so we can make sure the fuel and ignition maps are good to go for the GT cams.

I would recommend that the valve springs be upgraded to the 944S2 springs with the GT cams.

Otherwise inspect frequently for wear on the lobes.

Does the GT motor require frequent inspection for wear on the lobes?

No, and nor does the '85/'86 cars with basically the same profile, same springs and same lifters.

IMO with stock springs yes if the vehicle sits in traffic often.

It is well known that GT cams OFTEN have far more wear than S-4 or GTS cams. Also that Porsche determined that the 944S2 NEEDED better springs..so for best results do the upgrade on the springs ! Then run high zinc oils and be done with cam problems,

If one orders new 944 S2 springs from factory they will deliver different type than what can be found from S2 engines I have seen. At least one local got weaker parts than all used sets we have found.
