Main bearing bush in early split bearing block?
Hi
Is it possible to fit the later type no.1 main bearing bush into an earlier block design to take the split type no.1 main bearing?
I know there is a locating dowel in the block casting - easy enough to retro fit, but are there any other differences?
I also believe that the land area on the crank for the thrust bearing changed, are there any issues with a later (larger land area) thrust bearing being fitted with the older smaller land area crank?

Why would you want to do this? I think I have an extra new front split bearing that you could have for the shipping if I can find it. I think it is first oversize.
And, yes, early crank is ok for later bearing. I build my current motor from a factory new block that required a single piece front bearing, but the crank was from a split bearing motor.
