Another DFW new shark owner
The first item was the driver seat slides forward about 1cm when you brake moderately hard.
The second item is the transmission seems to shift a little clunky. Is that normal? It also seems to be getting better as I drive more city miles.
The third item is the cruise control. When going up hills it slows noticeably. If I tap the gas it goes back to the previous setting. It also seemed to be hard to engage when first driving in the morning. This seemed to improve as the day wore on.
The fourth item was the AC. We used it on and off on the long drive back from Florida. A few times I noticed when I changed the temp setter to a higher setting there would be a small almost unnoticeable puff of smoke and an odd odor come through the center vents. At times the AC seemed to cut out for a few moments. Also the rear control fan makes a whining sound.
The fifth item is the paint, which for the most part is fantastic has several chips. One by the passenger door and two on the gas cap cover. Any recommendations for repair of those?
The sixth item is the steering wheel. I have the original also redone by by Rob Budd but it came with the one in the picture. Is it hard to change them?
The last item is the neutral safety switch is out. The mechanic who changed the oil and brake fluid found this one prior to leaving with the car. He was going to fix it but he got the wrong part in. We decided to deal with it back in Texas.
Another note: we don't have an owners manual as the prior owner had removed it. We didn't notice it until we were 150 miles down the road. He is supposed the ship it to me along with the old spoiler a clock which also is not working and he failed to tell me.
I would love to hear some comments from experienced owners. I am loving the car and still getting to know her. I can't wait to bring her to the DFW owners meeting.

Welcome to the list and hopefully we will see the car next Saturday 4th Feb.
Roger

Does it have the "Do It Yourself" manual transmission, or the superior "Fully Equipped by Porsche" Automatic Transmission?
George Layton March 2014928 Owners are ".....a secret sect of quietly assured Porsche pragmatists who in near anonymity appreciate the prodigious, easy going prowess of the 928."

I found this link to be helpfull from the new vistors thread

You are arguably in the best 928 area of the United States, possibly the world. Rog, Sean and the rest of the gang are a fantastic support group!
Oh, and do a search, somebody has posted all the owner's manuals on their website. There are many interesting nuances in there, I still learn new things when I look in mine.
Enjoy!

Another 928 in FlowerMound ... must be something in the water!
San Diego, all 928's will end up in Texas eventually it seems! LOL! Rog and I (and a few others, hello Tony!) are doing our best to get them all here as soon as possible! LOL!
Alllready then, on to some of the more substantive points..
Steering wheel- is not difficult. No air bag one wire for the horn and mind the turn signal cancellation device. And the orientation so it is correctly oriented for straight ahead.
Transmission...check fluid level...but likely a vacuum lieak or maybe the modulator. But I'd bet a vacuum leak.
Seat track..sorry no help there but I would bet it is something loose from R&R for 'restoration/clean up.
A/C.. I got nuthin' have my own issues to tackle there and no skills.
SeanR and Roger can get you squared away very quickly.
Welcome
So your well ahead of the game in that regard and considering it drove 1300 miles without incident I'd say you did very well
No telling how much it cost the PO to do that interior, but chances are it was close to 1/2 of the price of the car. It doesnt sound like you have too many MAJOR issues other than the A/C and theres no telling what's causing the issue - with any luck it might be minor. The paint looks nice as well. If you only have a minor chip or two and know what your paint code is then go to DrColorChip, order the smallest touch up paint package they offer (it goes a long way) and you can touch those up very nicely for less than $60 in a few minutes. Its not concours or anything, but it does cover the chips very well.
These other issues will probably be identified, if not sorted out, by the time those TX guys get done looking at your car!
Again, Welcome to the tank and congratulations on a very nice purchase!
