Welcome aboard!
About the door lock surround, I painted mine without totally removing them from the car. They turned out really well, although I don't have any "after" closeups. Here are some pics of the process I used.

Very nice car! I'm assuming all the routine maintenance has been kept up since everyone's NOT telling you to do the TB/WP, change the fluids, all the mechanicals/ electricals, etc, etc, etc... BEFORE you do the lock clean-up
Welcome aboard! Your son has a VERY nice ride... LOL!!!

Welcome Jim and great looking 928! Love the red wing, the red intake and cam covers. Not that I'm biased or anything... Those 18" Cup II's look outstanding too.
I see aero mirrors in your future too...

Welcome Jim! I didn't think there were 18" CUP II's... all the factory CUP II's that I am aware of are 17"...
Great looking car Jim! You live in the heart of 928 land too!

James, you are correct, the factory Cup II's are 17". The 18" versions are aftermarket, and pretty hard to find from what I hear.
But they sure look like they're meant to be on a 928!

I actually purchased the door lock kit(weeks ago from jäger)...now I'm thinking based upon the responses...was probably not the way to go but will give it a shot as it wasn't a huge expense and shouldn't cause any harm. Sad to say I won't be able to show up at the breakfast with he new car due to some recent clutch issue but I will be there hope that's kosher. Thanks so much for all the responses
