That pic is from my car... If you have one plug off, you'll get most of the coolant out, so recommend leaving the 2nd one alone.

A few months ago I had a simular problem when draining the cooling fluid on the drivers side drain plug, in as that part of the thread was damaged when I - carefully although it did not seem to matter - removed it.
I also confirm that I used a longer M12 x 1.5 bolt that 'did the trick'. And for the next time I will install nice F109N 12 mm x 1.5 drain valves from Fumoto (as has been written about by other rennlisters in the past), as I ordered a whole bunch of them in various sizes (just in case) from their nice subsidery from Guernsey (they have good customer service, as they normally deal with companies rather than private individuals) - for those of us that live in Europe (anyone wanting details: PM me).

Got it out with the use of a six point socket as suggested. I don't have any shallow metric six point sockets so I ended up using a 1/2" socket with a 1/2" drive breaker bar. Broke free with no fuss and the socket didn't slip on the bolt head at all. So glad nothing was destroyed in the process. There was copper anti sieze on the threads of the bolts, so someone has had these out in the past.

NoVector. I see from your sig you are in K-Town. I spent a little time there when I was in the Army Guard. We were there on our annual training that year. Stayed at the barracks there but worked at a maint shop in Manheim. I would like to go back sometime when I could spend more time being a tourist.
