As I figure most of you know I am changing headlights and driving lights.
I am looking at doing a HID conversion to the new Euro driving/fog lamps.
I think that the 5000K is the color temp of choice, what do you guys think?
BTW, are the bulbs H1 or H3's in the stock Euro units on the driving light side?

All S4+ driving/fogs are H3
The lower the kelvin the better. I try for 4000k when doing HID.
I find that gives much better light for the average persons eyes

Anything HID at up to 6000K looks pretty white - much above this is getting blue.
Getting incandescents to match up to 6000K is feaible - lower color temp is easy to match.
3000K is quite yellow - I'd be looking at 5000K-6000K range.

Yup... 5000 K to 6000 K is going to be a nice daylight white.
Any higher than that, and useful light output starts to suffer.
I went with 6000 K almost 7 years ago and have been happy with that.

In general, the lower temp HIDs provide more lumens. 4K or 4.3K is what I generally use. It's white. But a 5K bulb from another vendor could actually be the same, higher or lower kelvin. There is no precise rating standard for comparison with these automotive bulbs. Also, since H4 HIDs are aftermarket non-standard mounting adaptations of D2R or D2S HID bulbs into an H4 base, there are possibilities for variations there. Despite all this, I've never had a problem with even the lowest priced H4 kits off eBay, as long as they have the newer compact digital ignitor/transformer units.

These kits are great and have full warranties on bulbs too. I have used them for years with no problems.http://www.ddmtuning.com/Product-Cat...hting/HID-Kits
