I do not understand this comment.
Unless you mean the tensioner. You are on the right track and the warning system worked. It may be the tensioner bolt. I had a tensioner that would not hold a full charge, and did not have belt problems; There are used tensioners if you want to go that route or install a Porkensioner and be done with the oil problem.

Hey Captain:
Lots of us in the area. A bunch of us are on Dorkiphus.net Some guys belong to the http://www.sportscarshopinc.com/garageclub.html and work on their cars there.
I have done my TB replacement in about 12 hours (im slow) on my 86. 5 Hardest part was taking off the Crankpulley/dampner. If you decide to do it yourself message me. I have liftbars and flywheel locking tool you will need (if you would like to borrow) and am willing to assist. The job is not difficult, just a bit time consuming and requires attention to detail. I replaced my tensioner with a Porkentensioner. Your belt tracking issue could be a tensioner issue (there is an arm that can get bent) or shoulder bolt issue.
In any case good luck whatever you decide to do.

CAPT: There are a lot of folks in VA, and some in Balt/DC area with talent and skills to help. Space is a bit harder, but perhaps someone will ping in on that front.
DC- thanks for posting that link, I hadn't come across that before and it seems like a great resource. I was using a DIY garage in the same immediate vicinity, but it closed.
