Default H4 connector missing?

I put 8" H4's back on my 81 Euro S. When I took the plastic covers off I found that I don't have the big white connector (see arrows on pic) that attaches to the bulbs in the picture below (original pic taken from another H4 thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/2195537-post4.html ) Compare pic below to my pics in post #3

Instead, there is a 4-contact female connector with three wires attached coming up from below, in the correct orientation to connect directly to the bulbs but the spades from the H4 bulbs are a little too wide to fit, so there is an intermediate "adapter" that plugs into the back of the bulb with a second connector and has three individual male spades on short wires that plug into the connector from below. This adapter is clearly not from the factory and was plugged into the previous 7" sealed beams.

Does this smaller connector attach directly to the missing white piece that clamps onto the back of the H4 assembly or is something else going on here?

Does anyone know where I can find 2 of those large round white connectors? Or does anyone have any cracked/damaged H4's with the connector intact they want to sell?

***NOTE added 1/16/12: Part number found -- see post #14***

The white seal rings come with the H4's... what kind of H4's did you buy?? are they Bosch or something else...

This is not part of the car side wiring.

Post a picture - I'm really not sure what your are describing...

Does that white piece happen to have a Bosch part number on it?

Luis-

No part number on the white piece.

The H4 headlamp body has a part # of 1 300 516 004, and the H4 reflector part number is 0 301 900 701. Here are some pics, as well as the pinouts for the connectors on the white piece. (It's actually light gray...)

Thanks for the details. I have the same # on the body. I guess the "rear covers" were lost. Any ideas to source replacements?

Well in the USA it may well be a challenge - you might just get lucky on rennlist - but I assume you need 2?

Try 928 Itnl - see if they have any from busted H4s (but its not highly likely to have been saved, and there never were many H4s here).

Better bet - contact salvage yards in UK/France/Germany and see if they can scavenge any off crashed cars with broken H4 lenses (pretty much any Euro will have suitable ones - even UK RHD cars). Local 928 clubs can tell you where might work.

In the UK - Douglas Valley Breakers handles Porsche's

Thanks, Mark. Order placed online, along with a few other things I've been needing...

I feel foolish for not looking more carefully at PET for this. There it is, clear as day, on illustration 905-00 from the ROW parts list. In case anyone else ever needs one, the part is:

928 631 923 00 - protective cap

They're original 928 assemblies, not MC parts.
