Los Angeles area 928 owners: The tow-eye tap is soon to be on its way over to Europe for its maiden Euro tour. Before it goes, we have a last opportunity to use it over one weekend between now and late April. This coming weekend is out because of Easter, and the following Saturday 4/6 is booked for an Amish barn-raising on the UCI campus. That leaves 4/13 and 4/20 Saturdays, 4/7 and 4/14 Sundays. If you need to clear the threads for the front tow-eye, and have a later 928 with the larger threads in the tow-eye socket, here's the last convenient opportunity we'll have for a while. We have a lift, drills, relatively clean and convenient workspace, along with BTDT guidance and support. It doesn't get a whole lot easier. If you have an interest in taking advantage of this opportunity, please post here with your preference on date. If we don't see responses in the next few days, our reserved space on the wait-list will be relinquished and the tap will start its journey east to the European owners who are waiting for it.

I'll be waxing the undercarriage of the Honda if we don't fix some 928 tow eye threads.

Dr Bob - unless you have had direct PM interest ... seems this one has GONE!
Seems I should make plans for the "European Tour" to kick off immediately on its return.

Rear of front tow hook
I have asked before, but did not get an answer.
Can anybody tell me how to access the rear of the front tow hook so as to put some penetrant into the hole to see if the tow hook plug can be persuaded out.

EDIT:
More specifically, http://www.gewinde-normen.de/en/knuc...d-din-405.html I like the comment about knuckle threads being insensitive to dirt. Except for knuckle threaded aluminum plugs in steel.....
Sometime around 86 the thread changed from what Porsche call 15mm x 8 threads per inch (knuckle type RD14 - 14.318mm, 9/16" OD) to 20mm x 8 tpi (Knuckle RD20, 20.318mm, 0.8" OD x 8 tpi). An 82 should have the 15mm thread (my 83 has this). Here is a link to the specs:-
