Thumbs down Throttle cable plastic ends - alternatives?

Is there an enterprising solution to the crappy plastic clips holding the throttle -> throttle body cable on? They always break, necessitating a whole new cable, what a stupid waste -- had they simply used a spring clip we'd have been fine. Part number for cable is 928 110 626 01

Hokey I know, and you won't believe how heavy that 5/8" nut us but it fits well. Added clear epoxy for threads. Not sure I'll go with this, but giving it a try

A tech at one shop told me that if you take a heat gun to them for a bit before trying to snap them out, they usually won't break. Far from a universal solution, but may help save some of them....

If the plastic has heat-cyclecd enough to become brittle, I'd guess there are quite a few miles on the cable. Seems like an age related service item to me, for the sake of safety alone (sticking cable could pose a problem).

It's only $30 thru 928 Specialists, that is, if it's still available. LINK
