Super Nice (But Super High Asking Price) 928 GTS on ebay

With rumours of Porsche producing a new 928 based on the Panamera platform out there , I wonder how that would affect prices on these older GTS's.
Personally , I have been looking for the right GTS for a few years now , but if I could buy a brand new V-8 powered 928 in the same ballpark as these "ultra priced" GTS's , I think I might go that way.

The ones that bought at lower prices if they want to sell will have to figure out when its time to dump them.

Once demand goes away for GTS cars in the future it will be like Hemi cars.Prices going higher and higher then someone gets caught holding the bag. What price that will be noone knows yet but sooner or later it happens.

Not saying your theory is flawed, who really knows but, one thing is for sure...... There are a LOT fewer GTSs as compared to hemi cars. Smaller market too, I know. Not to mention; it is doubtful we will see more GTSs then were origanally produced..... Also, not many "tribute" cars either?
I doubt very much a 928GTS will pull money in like that especially compared to what the Cuda's cost then even including inflation its not even in the same league as the Hemi Cuda Convertibles when it comes to what they sold for.
Some sold for $2+Million
In the article the 1st one build they claim could be worth alot more.
http://www.insideline.com/features/1...road-test.html
1 of 3 1971's was 2.2 million

Being the GTS sold maybe for closer to $90k new and asking $100k now is nothing compared to the rare Hemi Cuda Convertibles.
1970 Hemi Cuda Convertible $1.6 million
Its not a theory ,the cars dropped back to around $750k
They could go back up thou in time but with economy bad after 2008 things pulled back some.
Article on prices dropped is toward the bottom of page heading
"Bought on the fall back to Earth" they peaked in 2005-2007.

Almost all high end collectable cars prices fell some years ago. Now best of the best Ferraris etc are going up again and braking all previous records. GTS is not yet in that kind of demand that it would follow same trends. Will it ever be can be debated.

I don't think a special version (GTS) of a car (928) that commonly trades for below $10,000 is deserving of a six figure price tag.

Its possible to find running late sixties Dodge etc with inline-6 or small V8 for peanuts. Try to find any original hemi for GTS prices. People who think S4 is 90% equal to GTS will never pay 100k for GTS same way as they would not pay original hemi prices since replicas can be build cheaply.

I am sure not saying I would not love to have a GTS but really, why are they that much more desirable than a S4 5 speed or GT. With simple mods you can get the GTS factory power and with blowing you can bring any of them back to modern supercar performance. I just do not see them as much different. Is the GTS that much more fun to drive than any 928? Maybe it is since I have never driven a GTS. Seems to be the same chassis and build qaulity. When you consider model years, I consider the 87 the heavyweigt champion of the world for its year. Good history there. I know everyone is partial to their own year car, but can you really say that a 1995 GTS was the baddest on the road? I do not think their is any claim that it was the fastest production car of that year. Just my thoughts.

I know I am kind of new around here, but I also question why a sunroof delete makes the car worth any more. For racing? I would doubt this car is ever going to get into a serious race. Is there another reason that I do not know about that the 928 crowd does not like sunroofs? I love mine and when open I think it adds quite a bit to the street looks of the car.
