This is the midnight blue GTS he sold last year to a buyer here in Boston.
I didn't know it was for sale, but I guess the owner flipped it back to Turboboost(WH) and/or that perhaps it is still in Boston and TB/WH is reusing pictures from the last auction.

I am not in the market, and don't really keep up to date on the prices. It should be pointed out that in a non-commodities market, prices are set by buyers, not sellers. Asking prices and selling prices(as I very well know) are two completely different things.

I just bought a house that was recently asking $205k. I assure you, I did not pay anything remotely close to that price. I think this is a very nice, and quality example of the marque. All it takes is one guy out there looking for this product. But - how many of those 'one guy' buyers exist? WH makes a good living off the float between wholesale and retail, nothing wrong with that. But don't think for a minute that you have to pay the asking price for anything these days.

I agree. I would be shocked if it sold for the asking price (or even the starting bid). It would have to be a really special buyer.

I don't think my bank would loan $97 large for an 18-year old car. At least not to me. Man, what is it with GTS intake tubes? I thought it was the heat, not the age that killed them.

Well, he's done it before, so it's hard to argue with Wilhoit's asking prices. I think his recent high sale was ~$105K.

Wilhoit short story:

Two years ago I was driven to Springfield, MO to give a talk. I had been looking at 928s and decided to combine business with pleasure. Showing up at sport car dealer in a limo is not the best strategy, is it?

Well, the trip was 3 hours. I arrived in Wilhoit's showroom with a PPI checklist and checkbook in hand to look at a green 93 GTS automatic. Due to confusion in scheduling, he was at home with the car. And he wouldn't return from across town with the car for me to see.

There were a few sales staff in the showroom. Plenty of 911 variants, too. No one offered to show me anything else 'that might be interesting'. In fact, they acted like I didn't belong there, go away. OK.

A few months later I purchased Jim Morton's 93 GTS and never looked back. In retrospect, I'm sure I ended up with the right car! But I'm also glad that Wilhoit guy is helping to maintain the value of mine. Wherever he is.

Docmirror referred to the bid/ask aspect and supply/demand. This is the time element. He sometimes holds onto them for more than "a little while." But that is his perogative.

Most people spending that kind of coin on cars don't need to finance them... They might if the numbers line up in their favor a bit, but most folks spending 100 large on a car just write a check for it I would think...

I know I am going to take alot of heat for this so apologies in advance...but for that price, there are other cars that would peak my interest. Don't get me wrong I love my 87 S4 dearly but this competes with other nice German cars like Audi R8, CL65 AMG, 911 Turbo (newer model), Panamera Turbo (0-60 in 3.8 sec).

...or, Italian, the ice-blue 328 GTS that parked next to me last saturday, with 50K change back.

If this unit is sold at the asking price would that necessarily increase the market value for all GTS's?
Is it possible that its getting more recognition as a collector car in the mainstream market?
I noticed that when I went to Edmunds to get a used value for (now mine) 94 GTS it didn’t reflect what i was seeing on the market ($16-17K) but when I was in Kelli BB it had it closer to $40K.
That, along with Wilhoit's comments to me that he was moving them at a brisker pace than usual lately makes me wonder????
