You should not be running anything 255 on an 8 inch rim -it is too narrow and if you have a rub on a 245 section how can you expect a 255 to improve things?

If you have a rub now do you know where the point of contact is? You should not be rubbing on the inner fender area unless you have a monstrous offset which is most unlikely.

Those of us who run big front tires know that a 265 section works well with an offset of 68mm however, in such circumstances you have to fit additional spacers each side of the steering rack- you lose a little lock but generally do not notice it in day to day driving.
