I fully agree with what you say.
My guess is we have some folks here today that might be a bit hung over and a little on the grumpy side.

It does seem that people don't realise these are the rare Wide-Body version of the Carrera III. IIRC, they only came on the 997 C4S - of which there are not many around. I hunted for a mint set for ages and ended up paying $1400. I've since been offered more than I paid for them, but they're not for sale - they're the single best choice IMHO for 928's with GTS rear quarters.

These are 1 of my fav's on the 928. I'm half tempted to offer up my champion motorsports in a trade...

This may be dumb question but I am just learning about wheel sizes and fit to the S4. What difference will the 10's vs 11's mean to fender room. Would you need to roll more or would it not make any difference?

You are most likely going to need to roll the fenders on a S4.
You can put a really wide wheel on them, IIRC a 275 is the smallest tire that will fit the 11's and the 295/30 is the only one that has the stock diameter of 25 inches, which I am told is important to retain.

You can run larger and smaller tire diameters but your speedometer will be off.
I have run up to a 27.1" rear diameter don't attempt taller than that or you will be cutting to fit.

And the suspension geometry will also be off, zero reason to run a different diameter tire that I can see.

Man if I'd known the entertainment value of this thread I would've posted here a lot sooner. As a matter of fact any time I have an item for sale in the future I'll run it by the Lotus chick. As long as it's at the right time of the month

So here's the deal, due to the high demand from now on I'll only accept offers OVER the initial asking price. Lotus will get a cut of course for getting the ball rolling.

Just messin' with ya, the wheels are spoken for. If anything changes I'll update the thread.

Happy New Year everybody!

Glad you sold them, thanks for letting us know they are spoken for.
Let us know if it does not work out, as I am sure there will be some one that would like to have them here.

Folks, I've done some tidying of this thread. Please, let's all remember that messing up a Member's FS thread is not good form.

Regards,

If you have an S4 or GT, just get the 10" rears. They'll bolt straight on, no spacers or fender rolling. Your optimal tires will be:

Front: 225/40ZR18 on 18"x8" (et57mm)
Rear: 285/30ZR18 on 18"x10" (et58mm)

You'll need GTS hips or fender rolling of S4/GT's to get 11" on the rear.

BTW, I think the $1600 price was ballpark. I paid $1100 for my 11" set 3 years ago, and they are definitely not easier to find now.

Glad you sold them. They are truly awesome rims for the 928... the price was good as well..it always amazes me when people are willing to spend thousands on crap aftermarket wheels and not on quality OE wheels!

I have zero doubts that if I had been running a aftermarket wheel when I hit that thing I hit I would have shattered the rim.

This took a major hit, and it still holds air, which shocks me.

It screwed this rim up, no way would I think about having it straightened.

The rear one looks OK, but it has .050 run out and is done, guess I will be ordering a new one in the AM, for close to what these (the whole set) sold for.
shock I guess.

Of course it could be worse, I could own this one.
This picture was taken while the car was on the lift, from the ground.

As was this one.

To call this a rust bucket it to be kind, it had muffler clamps holding the front suspension control arms on.

That price also included tires.

Also, who bought these rims, let your self be known.
