Yeah I got the T-handle sorted out..thanks all

so anyways after all that removal and cleaning of the CE panel...

brakes lights didn't work....

fog lights didn't work......

sooooooo...I had left out some fuses from the panel based on charts and the owners manual (a plus was in the passenger-side door compartment) which stated "not used".

Before the panel removal all the fuse slots were full, so I tried that..brakes light work now ..(oddly only with the key in ON position..is this normal for Porsche?)

Fog lights am at a loss..still not working..power to switch ok..fuses ok..didn't test the relay but hear it "click" when I turn on the switch..

any ideas guys??

I can't be much of a help, but in my 82 the fuses that are specified as "not used" are empty and all my lighting works fine. Does your brake light warning light on the dashboard come on when you start it? This should light up after you start the car, and go off when you hit the brake pedal the first time. If it doesn't, I'd guess you've got some wildcat wiring in there.

Of course, the first thing you should do is clean the grounds. Do a search on that, lots of helpful info. Doing this sometimes solves electrical issues, and at least eliminates a bad ground as a possibility.

I did have an issue with the brights, in that it triggered a dashboard warning light the first time I tried to use them. I replaced the battery ground strap and it may be coincidental, but it hasn't happened again.

Besides the other issues, do take a minute to make sure you have steel ball joints. The car originally came with aluminum.
If your fuel lines have not been replaced, get on that too.
Congrats on your car!

I just looked at the relay chart on 928 Spec and see that unfortunately, the fog light relay (928.615.117.02) is unique on the 82 so you can't swap it with another(I don't think.) I was going to ask if you also checked power at the fuse in addition to making sure the fuse was good. BTW - You're checking them with the ignition on and lights on, right?

IRT the extra fuses, like you, on my 84, I had some circuits re-routed somewhere in its past. Fortunately, they were labled in the owners manual chart. One was the fuel pump--another was the horn.

Good luck! At least the fog lights aren't critical.

Congrats on your car!
Had a chance to crawl under her with a magnet, the ball joints are steel so someone had the sense to change-over previously.

I looked at all the fuel lines in the engine compartment, everything looked decent and appeared to have been changed. Which should I specifically look at?

Are they the one's under the intake snorkel?

BTW fog lights mysteriously working after a fuse change..the previous fuse still tested OK out of the car...strange...

Have to now pull out the instrumentation pod...no light from the gauges although warning lights are OK....dimmer dims the console OK so I suspect the bulbs? Plus tach still not working, but it's auto 3-speed so not a big issue now...

just trying to make is street safe

^^^^ He's talking about these fuel lines (see PET pic); on an 82. Don't recall many soft lines other than the hoses to the injectors(?) If you don't have PET, go to DcAutomotive's website and you can zoom in on them there.

Bulbs may be fine, can't imagine them all going out at the same time.
There is a dimmer roller-wheel under the pod to the left of the steering wheel.
Try rolling that back and forth a few times with the lights on, see what happens.
At least, the dimmer rheostat needs a cleaning, or a new one.

Ja I don't see many soft hoses other than small lengths...

I saw on other posts longer soft line recommended to be replaced...

Unless they were specific to a model year...
