Default LH and EZK EPROM numbers by model and year

Was doing a little cleanup in the garage tonight, and came across the LH and EZK EPROMs from Dan's 91 S4 Auto. It occurs to me that I've not seen a master list of EPROM #'s vs. the years they've come from. So here's a start:

91 S4 Auto:

LH: 2 287 356 877

EZK: 2 227 355 334

93 GTS 5-speed:

LH: 2 287 357 477

EZK: 2 227 355 584

This is more for posterity than anything but clearly there are lots of chip variants out there. It would be interesting to get some data points. Anyone else?

Here's a couple more.. late '87 S4

EZ-K - 2 227 355 480

LH 2.3 - 2 287 355 447

I can add the LH chip from my 89 shortly - just about to swap in my spare LH (already rebuilt) as I think the 89's original LH has died.

Just noticed the number is in the LH binaries too..

Look at the end of the file - there's the Bosch part number, the 928 LH part number, and the sticker number off the chips.

e.g.

LH part no - 928 618 123 13 (89/90 S4)
Bosch part no - 0 280 002 507
Chip sticker - 2 287 356 487

I'll pull my 89's LH tomorrow, but the 89 LH bin file I have (from 928s4.com) has the above numbers in it. I just noticed this while making an '89 chip for my spare LH so I can do the swap easily tomorrow.

From my 90GT with a production completion date of 1/15/1990. I assume the chips to be original:
  • LH - 2 287 356 486
  • EZK - 2 227 355 584

Chris Ford has a nice summary of the LH and EZK 928 part numbers...and some actual bin files...

It appears that there were very frequent changes of chip # for each 928 618 123 XX code. So this implies at least some annual updates.

More info added to the post above, with EZ-K and EZ-F chip part numbers.

Found online while looking up a chip I took out of a 928 618 124 15 EZ-K unit from a 90 S4.

The Bosch numbers beginning with a 2 are the chip part number.
The Bosch numbers beginning with a 0 are the ECU part number.
(CHK is the Checksum-16 value)
EZ-F
1985/86 S3 928.618.124.05 EZ58F CHK:FC43 BOSCH 27C32 0227400013

(probably some duplication here but I left it as there are 3 different checksum values)

FWIW, part numbers are in the EPROM code similar to the format above.

They are visible in plain text if you view them with a hex editor.
Depending on the year, they are in different locations, but always near the end of the file.

See post 3

The EZK ones don't seem to be.. although I haven't looked through a whole file (there is a UID, and its listed a couple of posts up, but unlike LH it doesn't mirror the chip part number). Handily I found some european sites which offer exchange brains that show the EZ-K chip numbers, and I have a few here too I've taken apart.

I've also modified a bunch of the binaries I've gathered for loading into the ST2 software (just have to change some bytes at the end of the file) - I just haven't got around to extracting the maps from them into an excel file or similar for comparison.

Oh - in case its not linked above.. here's a page with a bunch of binaries on it, thanks to Chris Ford for gathering them.

Whatever. I included a pic.

The '87 EZ I have doesn't have a part number, but the '89 does.
I haven't pulled my '88, yet.

The EZ files only seem to have Porsche and Bosch part numbers for the complete ECU, not the chips (unlike the LH).

I need to go round to a friend's house and steal his ECU's, so I can add the 88 Clubsport/SE chip images to the collection.

(will pass them onto Chris when I get them to add to his site).

Can anybody confirm this:

I’m 90% certain the chips ending in 428 are from the EZF side and the 721 is from the LH side.

Could not find confirmation in other posts.
They are from a 86.5 manual.
Thank you.
