Jim-

I've used them to buy 130amp alternator over a year ago, all very good. Product shipped quickly and is top notch.

I ordered one last year. It did not have any way to mount the shroud. It is not really a proper 928 replacement alternator in that respect, but there are few places selling the real 928 models....either early or late versions. But it fit in other respects, but it also had the wrong pulley, even though it was for an '84 per the listing....

Jim,

How was the power output? I converted to electric fans and would like a bit more amps than the stnadard 90 amp alternator.

I have used them with disappointment. First sent was correct and could use shroud, but was dead on arrival. Paid to have sent back with pictures, dimensions, and orientation needed for power supply. Arrived and was a huge monster that would not clear oil sending unit (even without shroud. Paid to ship back again, again called to be sure of next unit coming. When it arrived it had no threading for cover, orientaion wrong again. Excuse the language, but it was an expensive cluster f88k that cost way too much with no satisfaction. Jim if you want to try one pay for shipping for mine, if you like it pay the original price, if not ship it back to me. The one sitting on my shelf is supposed to be for '78-'82.

Let them know what your amp requirements are and they will take of you. I requested 130 amp, and the one ordered came with a shroud.

Eagle Electric is who I bought my Mustang alternator upgrade from maybe 5 years ago, and it works great, BUT seems to me they have grown maybe bit too fast and more than a few people have had some issues with them. I would use them again, 100%, but they are local enough I could resolve most any issue without a messy amount of shipping.

OTOH any of the early cars I would just go with the Delco something like 130 from a v6 88 Camaro I think.

78-81 might be more accurate. 82 changes to a ribbed belt (new pulley).
Service Bulletin claims it changes the alternator ratio slightly, from 1:2.15 to 1:2.3

I don't know how much of an impact the ratio change would have, but you'd need a pulley to swap in for an 82 at least.

Works well on my 82. Some people have had problems though. Takes a new (smaller) belt and you remove the tensioner mechanism. They alternator is something like a $100 brand new though.

Jim,

I can't say I noticed any difference between it and it's predecessor, outputwise. I didn't keep that car for long, so no long term reports. When the alternator went out on my current 928 I tried a 150 amp replacement, it didn't fit well at all, tossed a belt. I replaced it with one from O'Reileys, lifetime guarantee, specifically for an '84 928 per their catalog...no shroud fitting possible, no pulley at all, but it has been on the car for 6+ monhts and working well so far....figured it was worth a few extra bucks with no shipping and the U] lifetime guarantee[/U] .....definately wanted the cooling shroud....I looked at the new 200 amp 928 Motorsports, could not choke down the price.....but it looked interesting...
