Who knows. Maybe its all true. This was my response.

"As sorry as I am to hear this it may be a win win for both of us. I was planning on redoing the interior any way so maybe you can sell it to me at a reduced price and get a nice check from your insurance company netting you even more. Can you send me new pictures?"

Maybe it's time for Porken to "casually" stop by the place that is selling the 928.... .. or maybe a group of "Portlandians" can persuade him to finalize the deal LOL..

Mark, dont you have a shell/body
I am sure that you must have enough parts to build a car?

Not really. There's a long list of stuff I do not have. I really want a very clean origianal S body 5sp 2v car. The ultimate would be a 1986.5 Euro, no sunroof, no rub strips, all leather interior but I will consider any 4.7 S 5sp.

You do know there is no "real" 86.5 Euro .... all 86's in Europe came with the S4 schtuff.... What about that right hand drive 86 Euro that was discussed on the list a little while back?

schooled

No RHD for me. I'd be afraid of all the things I'd run into.

Kind of leaves one to wonder what would have happened to your $500 deposit if you had sent it within 24hrs per the seller's ebay ad.

Well that goes a long way towards reducing any cynical concerns.

Given that you planned to replace the interior, it sounds like a good deal is in the offing

I think the whole it got stolen and interior was wrecked story is a load of $hit. Why do people do no reserve auctions when they aren't willing to deal with the closing price?

Maybe I wasn't too clear..but I was referring to the Euro 86's coming with all the S4 suspension stuff...big brakes etc...

Mark is looking for the ultimate old body style euro 928... an 86 with the 4.7 Euro engine and big brakes etc... one day I hope to find one of those too...

I know about the Aussie engined 86's too...wrote a feature story on one for the now defunct 928 Forum magazine. That 86 was an early one (vin near 400 ish) and had all the S4 brakes etc...and the 28/45 engine (lower compression 9:1) for the bad fuel in Australia...

Mark and Tom - y'all should just get a USA '86.5 5-speed, and downgrade it to a twin-dizzy 4.7 engine. Better yet, swap the less effecient 16V heads and intake onto der 5-liter.

I can make you a 16V chip (or ST1 bin) that retains the idle control valve and O2 sensor of the superior 32V engine.

Porken is right, very little difference between the US and Row 85/86 except for the brains and motor, things like wiring harnesses I believe are the same or very close. Total stealth would be Euro S heads on a US block with a US intake.

Depending on cams etc, performance might be pretty close, but very different in character.

It goes beyond that.. for me anyway... I can find the 85/86 US 928's pretty much anywhere for super super cheap..kinda like a corvette...cheap and common (in our 928 circle) LOL

I think the 86 Euro 4.7 twin dizzy represents the last true embodiment of the old body style as Porsche intended it. A big part of my initial attraction to the 928 was the intake "spider". The 86Euro offers that...plus all the good suspension stuff.

None of that catalytic convertor stuff, high tech tiny tiny 32 valves, and massive pipe organ intake covering all the good bits. That intake is just a monstrosity...

I've already got the best of the S4 body style (89GT) with the best iteration of the 32v engine...a nice euro 86 would make for a great addition to the stable

where's that ducking for cover icon again... oh yea..here it is
