It goes beyond that.. for me anyway... I can find the 85/86 US 928's pretty much anywhere for super super cheap..kinda like a corvette...cheap and common (in our 928 circle)

I think the 86 Euro 4.7 twin dizzy represents the last true embodiment of the old body style as Porsche intended it. A big part of my initial attraction to the 928 was the intake "spider". The 86Euro offers that...plus all the good suspension stuff.
None of that catalytic convertor stuff, high tech tiny tiny 32 valves, and massive pipe organ intake covering all the good bits. That intake is just a monstrosity...
I've already got the best of the S4 body style (89GT) with the best iteration of the 32v engine...a nice euro 86 would make for a great addition to the stable

here in Germany these 1986 S 2 5 speed are very rare. If you dig at www.mobile.de or
www.autoscout.de you find 1 of these cars often with S 4 bumpers because back in the 80th or 90th everybody wants the new style.
I must search the Porsche 928 Club News, I think we have 300 928 S in Germany on the road regulary registrated.
Maybe the same amount of cars waiting in barns for historical license plates.
Here in Germany you can drive 30 years and older cars with H license plates for little money for insurance and taxes.

There were 315 1985 Euro's imported into the US and 42 in 1986. Of those 42 a fair number were 32V's. So you are looking at 335 85/86 Euro's originally. Probably a 50% loss rate by now, especially since they went by the wayside quicker than US models.
So 160 left, many of which are beat bad. That's not a lot of these cars hanging around. And how many are 5 speeds? Mine is an auto. (84 Euro's are great too, but many changes from 84 to 85 and for 5 speeds it was from Porsche to Borg Warner)
I would say there are probably 25 really nice 85/86 Euro's left. Very rare animal.
Mark should look at that 1 in Boston.

Is there anyone on the list that has an 86 or 86.5 16V car? And after VIN#1000 they had S4 brakes, is that correct?

Yes ,the cars use the same body.The 32 V engine was optional for Germany,Austria and Swiss.Standard for Australia.
List price was 100.000 DM
Option 32 V engine with polutionmanagment was plus 9000 DM = 4600 €
The VIN for ROW cars is 84**** for USA and CDN 86****

Early '86 USA use leftover parts from '85. They have 'S' brakes, but are lighter weight. All the '86.5 changes make them close to S4 weight.

The rarity of the Euro 86..with the 4.7 twin dizzy engine is what makes it much more desirable than the 85 euro and the standard 86 and 86.5 US models which are as common as mold in the NW here

There is an 86 Euro S non sunroof for sale right now in the US, but its RHD, and the seller is on Rennlist, but chooses not to post the car for sale here. (so other than mention, I plan to stay out of the middle).
I think the 1986 is highly desirable, but since you can bolt on the features to an 84 or 85 seamlessly, maybe not in the same category as a sun roof delete, a 5 spd, or even a color combination.

The guy who bought it got it for 3k...and I think listed it here for 7K?..not sure..He got slammed as usual for trying to flip it..so I can understand why he doesn't want to post it here

Although there was a version of the cat equipped 85/86 early 32v engine available in Europe, the take up was low as compared to the non cat 16v twin dizzy.
They are a rare sight in mainland Europe today. I've never heard of one of the European 32v 85/86 cars here in England. But there is a US 32v 85/86 which was imported to the UK from the US many years ago and is still on the road here. I get the occasional 'phone call from the garages tasked with maintaining it saying "....you'll never believe what I've got here !".
