If you do a proper sunroof delete on a 928 it is more than a 5/10 job. Here are pics from my 91 Turquoise Metallic Refresh thread. Besides needing the main panel I sourced the cross support frames that the delete panel is welded to. Hope these pics help.

You are right, should have been more precise in my statement - it was a 5/10 on a race car, with a cage already welded in. It was never meant to be a concourse car, thus we did not even paint the inside of the panel...

Apparently those sold for very little once Ford was done with them. When they made the film "Le Mans" (I think thats the title, with Steve McQueen) one of the GT40's was made into a camera platform.

Thanks Michael, I'm primarily intersted in seeing some pics of the interior headliner so I can understand how to install mine. If you have the car and can post that would be most helpful.

could you provide part #s and any other resources.
Roof parts:

Sunroof-less roof panel, 928 503 501 02 from 78-89. (changes to -03 for the antenna added in '90)

front roof frame: 928 502 383 02

upper rear roof frame: 928 502 395 02

lower rear roof frame: 928 502 393 02

In 2/2010 the -03 roof panel was available, I got one at $292. The frame pieces were all available and were $57, $84, and $78, respectively. Dunno whetehr Anderson's got any used sunroofless headliners but there are no new ones available.

Dan - I'll take some pics of mine this afternoon in decent outdoor light (did I volunteer this in a prior thread? suddenly wondering)

Its a factory leather no-sunroof headliner out of my '89 - currently out of the car for re-covering, so pics will be easy. It still has the factory leather on it and shows all the fitting holes and screw points, as well as the shape.

I believe the earlier cars have a different headliner profile due to different sun visors?

Hmmm. I have two vinyl sunroofless headliners in the garage right now, not sure of their 'vintage' but would assume they're pre-87, at least. Might be interesting to compare. I'll shoot some pics when I get a chance.

EDIT: Per PET, for vinyl headliners, 928 555 071 02 is 78-83, 928 555 071 07 is 84-86, and 928 55 071 08 is 87-95. Hopefully what Dan and I have will fit in an S4+ car....

Hilton, that would be great! could really help us out when it comes time to install. Will be good to have representative pics from you and Rob for posterity sake as well. Thank you.

As with regards to the non-sunroof panel - only the one for cars with roof mounted aerial is available (928 503 501 03). This could be the potential source of Roger's confusion with regards to availability. Welding the hole is dead easy though.

Sadly, no liners - either vinyl or leather - for any model year are available at all...

So Hebert's headliner and my headliner are identical, dimensionally. Thing about Dan's is it's brand-new, so if he can find the receipt we'll know which part # it is. But the used one has screw holes in it that will be helpful to mount the new one.
